Today’s list contains four very entertaining iPhone and iPod touch games. It also features a travel book-like app for your iPad that was once priced at $20 but is now free for a limited time. iAssociate 2 ($3.99 -> Free): The sequel to the hit word association game. In the game you are given a single word with other unrevealed words attached to it. The idea is to simply come up with other words associated with the word in the middle. The unrevealed words have a number next to them indicating how many characters are in that word. If you are stuck on a word, there are a limited number of hints at your disposal, or you can take your question to Facebook. The game features tons of different levels and categories, and online leaderboards to compare your skills. iAssociate 2 is available for free today only (6/1). Iced In ($.99

Let’s set aside the question of whether you should get an iPad and suppose you already bought one last weekend. You probably floated home and loaded it with a few whiz-bang apps and maybe even passed it around to your friends. At some point in all the euphoria, you may also have wondered whether this device is just a trophy or something you can actually use. Such self-doubts can be easily cast aside, providing you delve a little more deeply into the App Store than the Top 100 list — and are ready to open the wallet again. If you budget around $100 for a few new and upgraded apps, you can easily make the iPad into much more of a constant companion than something you just trot out when the neighbors are watching. Start with productivity apps, because a mobile device is most valuable when it lets you work anytime,

Poor

What a rip off, I foolishly purchased the app before the (PROPER) reviews started to be posted. I would not even have it as a free app on my iPad; never mind paying $19.99 for it AGHH......... I also want my money back. The thing crashes more than it works. Very, very; very POOR APP.
Disappointing

This application was very disappointing. The content is lacking, to say the least. The application actually crashes when you click on most of the cards in the deck. Shame on Lonely Planet.
Overpriced and better have updates

I agree with others this is NOT worth $20. Maybe $2-4. Great concept but info on each card is WAY too limited, needs search to find more info on places your heading without having to click each of the thousand cards, and I still haven't found a single video. Major rip off at $20. I fell for the day one reviews that gotta be from the developer and friends, not anyone who paid $20. Evil tactic!
Bought it at $20 now it's 10

Version: 1.0
Bought this app yesterday at $20, now, after one day on the market, the price is reduced to $10, probably because of reactions from disappointed users. The reduction does however not make up for the missing images and the bugginess of the app. Don't buy this!
Nice but Overpriced

This would be a great little app for $2 or $3 -perhaps even $5. But $20? Way overpriced for what it is.
I first thought I must be missing some part of the app - surely it can't be just a deck of cards with a picture and two or three lines of text? But yes, that's all it is.
Do not buy

Total shovel ware. Takes no advantage of the digital format. It doesn't even have good photos of the places. Just a blurb and a photo. Not even a say to mark the places you've been.
Should have been 2.00 at most
GREAT APP

This is app is pretty amazing! Amazing photography and content. Plus, I love the deck of cards thing. Totally fun to play around with and explore. I hope lonely planet comes out with more apps like this.
STUNNING! A must own..

Amazing app which has a killer user experience. Great content and photography and some nice videos (which I wish they had a video for every place). This is by far the coolest lonely planet app to date and it is great for exploring the world and finding inspiration about cool places to travel. All-in-all, this is one of the cooler apps I have seen and I highly recommend it.
Should be Stunning but it Only Crashes

1st app installed on a brand new 64GB iPad. Go in, select a card from the stack and go to view and it crashes back to the system. I want my money back.
Almost great

I've purchased these as books in the past, I like the iPad format better. The cards are cool; especially the flipping and videos. The one disappointment is a fairly large number of items with no photo-just a text graphic instead. Great for browsing for the next place to visit or reliving the places and things you have seen.
100 Destinations Crashes on new iPad

Looks like it might be a good application if it didn't crash! What does one need to do to return an application and get a refund from the Apple store?
$20 for a bunch of pics

What a rip off!
There is not much there!
Dosers
Version: 1.0
This is a joke. Very disappointing. As others have said this is basically a pretty list of things with mostly single picture, some text and a link. That's it. This is really a $2 app. And, it's certainly misadvertised. For $20 it's a cruel joke.
1000 ultimate experiences

Version: 1.0
Excellent concept and format,
nice pictures, great intro video
However very weakly developed , many slots completely empty, most experiences have just photo, or name and description,
For $20.00 I expected much more!
At least photos of all experiences and would be much better if all had the short video which only a few had.
They definitely did not have enough time to develop this fully, and should have not released it till the content was more complete.
Here's hoping for great free updates we deserve them, check back in a year!
Not worth $19.99

This is a $1.99 app, $2.99 at the most. Nice photos with very few videos, but you can find similar information on Flickr and the web. I believe the developer is trying to take advantage of early iPad adopters. I, for one, feel like I was taken advantage of by spending $19.99 for this app.
This was a rip

What a joke. The previous reviews have to be from employees of lonely planet. Basically you scroll through the deck, pick a topic, and then it shows you a picture which you can flip to have a little bit of info on the location. There is no detail at all, no further pictures once you click on the card. I have been had. For twenty dollars save your money. Lonely planet you should be ashamed.
