App Review: Agendus

Agendus from iambic inc. Agendus is a name I’ve been aware of for many years. It’s calendaring software available on every major mobile platform but, for some reason, one I’ve yet to try. It’s been going since the digital stone age (or about 1999 if you prefer) – not quite as old as the fon... Read More
iOS4 Updated Apps: Osfoora, Agendus, Reeder, AT&T MyWireless, Pano,

Osfoora Osfoora has taken the place as my favorite Twitter client (for now anyways). They received an iOS4 update we covered a few weeks back, but this one is even better. It adds full retina display support for the iPhone 4 and boy is it pretty. The whole app got somewhat of a facelift as well. The... Read More

This ap is really just a decently working Alpha release. Doesn't have any of the core functionality we all hoped for from the Palm version. I don't care about quote of the day, weather, this day in history -- I need the core PIM INTEGRATION of the Palm Agendus. I think you guys really damaged the brand badly in releasing this product with the Agendus name. What it does, it does OK, but we all already have applications for that in the year and a half the itunes store has been running. This -- we don't need.

I was an avid user of this on the desktop, palm. Assumed I would see atleast some functionality from those. Very poor, too many clicks to create a task, to many screens - not simple - looking for something else.

As a former Palm platform owner of Agendus I was extremely disappointed with this application. Iambic really should have waited before releasing this mediocore program that doesn't even come remotely close to what Iambic is capable of judging from the previous Palm versions I own. I hope signifcant updates are released very soon.

I puchased this app after receiving an email on July 21 stating an uplated new version 1.01 was posted the previous week Agendas' email marketing is a total scam. The last version was posted May 27 - which is not one week ago Application is terrible not even worth trying if was $0.99. Certainly not worth the $7.95 price tag. I sent them two written complaints but have not received a response. Users don't let this company get away with their false advertising. It a scam to collect $7.95 from users.

Nope...This is NOT good. Have used Agendus with Palm for years. Swithched to the iPhone just 10 months ago, and expected something better than this. It isn't even close to their Palm application. The current iPhone application of Contacts, etc.etc. is better than this. I also don't know how this got by the Apple App people. I am very disappointed, and if i could get my money back, i certainly would. Don't buy it until they have a better version
This application is young but has great things in store! 5.0 stars

I was a HUGE fan of Agendus on the Palm and have been waiting for iambic to come out with an iPhone version. Unfortunately, this version is pitiful...even for a first attempt. Basically, what you're getting is a task manager and that's it. The original Apple Contacts app is better than the Agendus version which basically utilizes Contacts except personalized ringtones aren't available. What a shame and what a disappointment. I wish I would have listened to the other reviewers and not wasted my money. I can only hope that this is something they are just trying to get out of the chute quickly and will continue to improve on it. In the meantime, my advice is to wait. I wouldn't use it in it's current form if it were free.

Once again, it would have been nice to have a trial version before purchase. I purchased this as a follow on for the successful program of the same name on the Palm platform. Sadly this program is nearly worthless. It provided cute quotes of the day and important things in history on that day, but in reality all it really does is make to-do lists. There is NO integration with the IPhone calendar and NO integration with contacts the way the Palm application did. This program should be .99 and not the price paid. Read reviews carefully and realize what you are buying. It is clearly NOT the palm application many of us used with that platform

More like the original Action Names before it matured into Agendus. Good start. I read about its limitations prior to purchase. I am betting it will get better. I lived by it on all my Palm devices of old. Also glad that Iambic will not be able to nickel and dime us to death for iPhone updates like they did on Treo platform. Unless they release updates as new Products.

After 3.0 update I noticed no colors for tasks. For some reason I cannot access contacts when creating a new task. There is an update that is waiting for apple to approve that will help with colors. I really believe in agendus. It has always been a strong contact manager. Datebk 6 was always the strong calendar manager. I am hoping agendus can give us a great combo of both. Looking at the palm pre calendar review, it looks weak also. Iambic has come out with excellent applications. I am hopeful with updates agendus for iPhone and iPod touch will be there.

Being a current Agendus for Windows and former Palm Agendus user, I anxiously looked forward to the release of this product. After such a long wait, I anticipated a much more functional product. This DOES NOT cloud sync with Agendus for Windows, it doesn't sync with anything at all. Does not access the Calendar. Is clumsy in changing preferences. This version is not worth the price. Maybe a future release, but I would hold on to your cash to wait for at least a simple sync with Agendus with Windows.

I used Agendus for many years before the iPhone came along on a Palm and loved it! This is not the same program. The money I spent was wasted and I have alreay removed the app from my Phone. Agendus should have waited to launch until they could produce an app that was up to standard.

Before iPhone I was a dedicated Palm user. I had Agendus from its beginning. It was not perfect at first but got better and better eventually integrating calendars, tasks and even business trips. The company listens and continually improves their products. My three rating is what I always use for a good start. I'll wager they get a five from me in a short time. It's a new system and even my beloved Apple can be an obstacle when it comes to syncing.

Many ex Palm users are going to buy this, because Agendus was simply wonderful on that platform. Far and away the best PIM I've ever seen. THIS IS NOT THE SAME THING! Repeat: not the same thing. Not remotely. It doesn't do almost any of the things you probably used Palm Agendus for. The name's the only similarity, as far as I can tell. Perhaps, after a few updates, this will become an app worth having. If it ever approaches the quality of Palm Agendus, it will be ESSENTIAL. Until then, I'd keep my money in my pocket if I were you.

I am a former Palm(several models)Handspring,Treo680 user with whatever the current Agendus version was for the device I had. This release is very good for it's CURRENT feature set, and based on Agendus's past performance Is the only PIM I will eventually use for my iPhone. For now, it has a few limitations, based on my past usage of the Palm variants of Agendus, I bought now and will follow the development track. If it doesn't fit your current needs why not spend one Starbucks drink on it and join the forums and give the develoment team YOUR wishlist of features? I am.

I was an Agendus user when I had my palm and loved it. After waiting so long for the iPhone version I am disappointed to say the least. I cannot even select a contact to associate with a task. The app crashes when I do. It seems Agendus rushed to the iPhone marketplace rather than build a quality app. Your biggest competitor I see is Pocket Informant. You need an updated release fast to remain competitive. What is sorely missing is: 1. A calendar - will not be successful without one 2. Tight integration - loved that I could keep contacts-tasks-meetings tightly connected in one app 3. Calendar flexibility - the number of views and ways to present calendar data including icons was awesome 4. Icons - used to be able to assign icons to tasks and calendar items I am still waiting!!!

Version: 1.0
I am also disappointed as a user of Agendus Palm, which is one of the best PIM programs ever on any platform. This is basically a so-so to-do manager. But I bought it on the promise that missing features will be included in future releases. I hope iambic follows through. One of the reasons I bought my Ipod touch was the promise that companies like iambic were working on programs for it.
Mediocre start but hopeful for the future 2.0 stars

Not much to be found in this first release. Best feature is the search function for contacts, but currently others APPS do a better job. The task function is OK, but has no connectivity to your computer. Quote of the day and day in history function are OK. The Weather button has me stuck in Sunnyvale (default) and doesn't take the changes I entered in preferences. If you are expected Agendus for Palm functionality you will be disappointed. I'm still OK with spending the $7.99 NOT for what I get in this version but in the hopes that better things will come...I like Agendus for Windows and Palm and hope that soon the iPhone App will measure up. You may want to skip this version for now.

I was a loyal Palm user, and spent the 8 dollars without looking at the description. You folks at Iambic have a lot of work to do: MAKE THIS LIKE THE PALM APP and you will dominate the PIM market. Add the calendar and make it sync with google. Put tasks on the same page as calendar. Integrate calendar with contacts and tasks. Duh....
It'll get there...if Apple is willing! 2.0 stars
By: James P. Sullivan
Version: 1.0
For all of us previous Agendus users, there's a big whole...the calendar. Please read the article on iambic's website about the Agendus iPhone and Calendar. Essentially, right now, there are no ways to directly access the iPhone's calendar. Read the article. They want to fix the problem, too. Given this company's track record, this will be a stellar app, regardless of whatever Apple will allow them to do. It'll get there.

As a Palm owner, I've used Agendus for years, and it's one of the apps I've been hoping to see on my iPhone since my first iPhone purchase. So far, the iPhone app is a shadow of the Palm version; NO Calendar, NO custom icons, ugly color pallette (in contrast to the elegance of the iPhone), too many other niggling deficiencies to detail. Almost makes me want to go out and buy a Pre tomorrow, just to be able to use my old Palm platform version. As long as Iambic made us wait, Agendus/iPhone should have been MUCH better at launch!

NO. I repeat. NO CALENDAR functionality. None, nada.... Ive been a users of other Agendus platform applications and was expecting similar functionality. I was hoping this would be at least on par with Pocket Informant in performance and functionality. But Agendus does not even come close. I understand that Apple SDK does not open up the iPhone calendar but Pocket informant gets around that by utililizing google calendar. So a work around uses g-cal/ exchange to sync back and forth. Agendus does not mate with anything outside of this phone. Except today's weather and quote of the day.... WTF? Bottom line is how can Agendus call this a complete PIM when there is no Calendar. Do yourself a favor. Don't spend $7.99 here and get something useless. Spend $12.99 for Pocket informant for a truly useful tool. Agendus is just a fancy contact list. Nothing more.
