Is your iPhone/iPod touch full and yet it contains only a fraction of your video library? Are your videos in format unsupported by iPhone/iPod touch? Think of all those AVI, DivX, MKV and other files in your collection that would take weeks to convert just to be playable on iPhone.
Air Video is the ultimate solution for these problems.
★ Video Streaming ★
Instead of having to synchronize your videos to device you can now watch them over air. Suddenly the capacity of your iPhone/iPod touch is infinite and the nuisance of iTunes is gone.
★ Live Conversion ★
iPhone and iPod touch are very picky about the video formats they can play. Normally this means you need to convert the entire video before you can watch it. This can easily take an hour!
With Air Video this is no longer an issue. Air Video supports almost all video formats and performs the conversion *on fly*. That means you don't have to wait until the file gets converted any more. You can start watching it almost immediately.
★ ★ ★
Air Video comes packed with features. It can share folders on your harddrive as well as iTunes playlists. It supports live conversion as well as offline conversion where the entire file is converted upfront. It lets you customize the conversion settings, adjust resolution, zoom and crop the video. And you can have unlimited set of user defined conversion profiles.
* Air Video works over local network and over internet (including 3G). However to enjoy streaming over internet your router must support UPnP or NAT-PMP protocols so that Air Video can setup the port forwarding for you.
* Air Video will not play DRM protected videos. This is a restriction set by Apple.
* Live Conversion requires firmware 3.0.
The free server software (available for Mac OS X Leopard and Microsoft Windows) is needed to stream and convert the videos and can be downloaded at http://www.inmethod.com/air-video .
If you have any trouble getting Air Video working please contact us either by email or through the support forum. We reply to every message that we get. Asking for help in customer reviews is unlikely to get your problem resolved because we have no way to contact you. ...More

By Rene Ritchie, Monday, Aug 22, 2011 | While HP may not have killed webOS when it cancelled webOS hardware, it certainly stuck the knife in it and twister really, really hard — and every webOS user, Palm loyalist, and PreCentral.net reader felt it. Some might choose to stick with it, to see if HP’s incompetence can somehow be turned around by a forward thinking, hardware genius licensor, but others might have finally had enough. If you’re one of those, the dedicated, the abused, we think Apple’s iOS and iPhone and iPad hardware might be the perfect thing to salve your wounds and restore your sense of gadget wonder. We’ve got 960×640 retina displays, easy-peasy FaceTime video calling, high quality 5 megapixel, back-illuminated camera that shoots 720p 30fps video, the massive update that’s iOS 5 just down the road. And hey, if you’re worried about moving over your personal data like

Boxee for iPad is another live-converting, video streaming app (like our favorites StreamToMe and Air Video), but it also lets you collect videos from the web that you want to watch and does all of this for free. The app itself isn't terribly useful on its own, so you'll need to install Boxee Media Manager (also free for Windows and Mac) to stream videos from your local computers to your iPad and the Watch It Later bookmarklet to collect videos from the web. The Media Manager software lets you add directories on your computer with video inside and access them from the iPad app. You'll then be able to watch those videos on your iPad. If the format isn't compatible, Boxee will convert it in real-time. In our tests, we found that lower-quality AVIs tended to look better perhaps because converting a 720p MKV required a bit more power—which is to

Posted 04/12/2011 at 9:00am | by Cory Bohon Computing up "in the clouds" is the new craze. With an abundance of cloud services available from Google, Microsoft and independent companies like Dropbox, one might wonder why you’d need to build your own server solution. But, what if you don’t like the idea of leaving your personal data on another company’s server? Then, you build your own online cloud to store and retrieve your data remotely. In this article, we’ll show you how to use a Mac to set up your own cloud services, including storing and transferring files, streaming media, and even using your Mac to serve up web pages. You can then access these services remotely on your Mac or an iOS device. >> Mac with OS X Snow Leopard >> “Always-on” internet connection We’ve covered setting up Hamachi for use as an iTunes Home Sharing server before, but you

The ability to show everything that’s on my iPad 2′s screen on a TV using the new HD mirroring function has changed the device from just a remarkably portable computer to a full-fledged entertainment and business center. These are the apps that helped make that happen. There are other options for streaming your computer’s video library to the iPad, but Air Video consistently receives updates to improve its quality and squash bugs, and it works both in your home network and away with relatively little setup. It also supports AirPlay video streaming, but if you don’t have an Apple TV to stream to, it does a great job with the Digital AV Adapter and iPad 2 HD mirroring. If you have a TV in the kitchen, or even just one that you can view from the kitchen, then being able to view ingredient lists and cooking instructions on a large screen

By Rene Ritchie, Thursday, Mar 10, 2011 | Last night I sat down with my iPhone running iOS 4.3, tapped on the freshly updated version of Air Video, connected to my Mac Pro running the beta version of Air Video server, cued up some AVI and MKV files, and streamed them flawlessly to my Apple TV via iOS 4.3′s AirPlay. My iPhone wasn’t Jailbroken. My Apple TV wasn’t Jailbroken. But with a huge geeky grin plastered on my face I was finally watching all those old home videos and DVD rips that were never before supported, in any way, by Apple and their luddite Hollywood licensors. iOS 4.3 might be a minor update in many ways but it’s also a game changer for Apple and iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users. It turns every one of those devices into a media server (AirPlay) and viewing client (Home Sharing or apps like

It’s that time again! Apple has released OS update 4.3 for the iPhone, iPod Touch, Apple TV, and the iPad, bringing some cool new features to the respective devices. I could gab for centuries about iTunes Home Sharing and the addition of personal hotspots, but I’ll can that chatter in favor of more game-related stuff about the latest update. Specifically, I want to note the enhanced AirPlay offering. In brief, the 4.3 version of AirPlay connectivity gives both Web apps and App Store apps the ability to output video to the Apple TV. I think you can see the possible gaming kickbacks from this move. If, say, Imangi was feeling froggy, it could theoretically update Imangi: The Game [Free] to output to Apple TV, thus allowing you to play from your couch on a big screen as opposed to alone and on a toilet. That’s cool, right? Obviously, we’ll need to

AirPlay-enabled apps are beginning to trickle out ahead of iOS 4.3′s imminent launch, which will be on Friday, March 11 at the latest (if not today). Tuesday morning, Air Video, which lets you stream video from your computer to any iOS device remotely, got AirPlay support, making it incredibly easy to keep your entire personal movie collection with you at all times. The only downside of Air Video is it only works if your collection is stored locally on your own Mac. If you depend on subscription services to scratch your video itch, you may find yourself left out of the party. Air Video isn’t the only remote video streaming app to get AirPlay support. StreamToMe also recently updated its app to include AirPlay support for iOS 4.3 users. I prefer Air Video because it can function both as a streaming and remote conversion tool, as it is creating a second, streaming-optimized file

While much of the focus at Apple’s iPad 2 event might have centered around the sexy new hardware, Apple showcased some of the new features in the upcoming iOS 4.3 as well. Developers have had the opportunity to work with beta versions of iOS 4.3 for several months. The new OS release isn’t going to introduce as many features as the iOS 4.0 update or the unifying iOS 4.2 release, but the improvements should be appreciated across the iOS line. In recent years, browser makers have found that optimizing the JavaScript engine is the best way to increase speed and performance when loading web pages on the desktop. We’re now starting to see these optimizations applied to the mobile browser. In iOS 4.3, Apple has migrated its Nitro JavaScript engine from Safari 5.0 on the desktop to Safari for iOS. Apple says that these performance tweaks mean that JavaScript will run

Posted 02/02/2011 at 7:05am | by J Keirn-Swanson We've got high expectations. Not only do we want to be able to use our phones to make calls and send texts, but we also want internet access, games, apps that get us to social media, a music player as well as online music. We want to watch movies and read books and take pictures and -- whew, our little phone is starting to get a little crowded. And pretty much the same story goes for the iPad even with its bigger memory. Streaming music can take some of the load off, but if we could move a few of those episodes of Mad Men off our iOS devices, that sure would free up some space. Video streaming apps to the rescue! By Chris Oldroyd, Friday, Dec 3, 2010 | Air Video, a fantastic app that can transcode and stream video content from your Windows PC or Mac straight to your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, has just been updated to include support for multitasking and Retina display. Your Windows PC or Mac needs a small piece of software installed to communicate with your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad but once setup you can stream native iOS video content (MP4 and M4V) instantly to your device (rather than having to sync it over first via iTunes). Air Video will convert non-supported video formats (AVI, MKV, etc) and either store them for later viewing or stream them on the fly so you can watch now rather than waiting for later. This is done with one click on your iOS device; no other software is needed for the conversion. You can also setup specific folders

Instead of syncing movies to your iPad or iPhone, and filling up your limited memory, it leverages the ffmpeg library to let you convert and stream those videos instead, on demand. It's a tremendous application and a favorite among TUAW staffers. Air Video, with its always-available access to streaming entertainment, is the app that we hands-down felt was the most perfect match to Apple's new AirPlay Video technology -- and one that was most let down by Apple's audio-only limitations for third party applications. So I called up Knopp and asked if he'd build me a one-off custom version of Air Video to showcase what AirPlay Video could have been. Not for the App Store, obviously -- it's using private APIs -- but to see what it would look like. He was happy to help. Read on to discover how well it worked and watch it in action. The video you

I was not optimistic about the future of the iPad prior to its release. It seemed a unicorn among horses in the tech world, something precious and therefore expensive, but without any real tangible benefit over its brethren in terms of functionality, at least for the average person. Clearly, I was wrong. But what convinced me that I truly was wrong about the iPad and its prospects for the future weren’t the reports coming in about its tremendous retail success. That could still be accounted for by initial fervor for a new product by Apple, which, few will argue, has become the “it” company of late. No, it was a few select apps that convinced me that the iPad was here to stay, and that that was a good thing. Below are those apps, along with why I think they’re serious game-changers. Are you running your Mac as a media center? Do you have an iPhone or iPod touch? Now, obviously, getting this app requires you to have Boxee set up on your Mac as a pre-requisite, but that’s a step you definitely should take if you’re going to be using your Mac as a media center machine. Boxee automatically organizes your existing media library and gives you convenient, TV-optimized navigation of not only your own files but also of web content from sites like YouTube, CollegeHumor, U.S. television network sites and Hulu. I’m planning to write a bit about the media streaming apps Air Video and OrbMedia (hint: neither of them really wins), so this gigantic article on why streaming video over supposedly blazing fast 3G connections still sucks was quite useful. All you need to do to witness this craptastic quality is to try and watch a YouTube video over 3G. It will take a while for the video to load, and the video will look like donkey (substitute word) when it does. Basically, it seems to come down to issues with wireless spectrum, backhaul (connection between cell towers), and the mobile devices themselves. If you’re interested in learning more, hit up Gizmodo. Articles like this are one of the reasons I still read the site.

Precio: 2,39€

By Matt Sawyers, Friday, Dec 25, 2009 | ) I was quite surprised when I found Air Video for iPhone [$2.99 - iTunes link] was available in the App Store and was even more blown away with what is said it could do. Video Streaming: Watch videos from your computer, over the air via WiFi or 3G, on your iPhone or iPod touch. No need to sync with iTunes or transfer files. Live Conversion: Convert video from a non-iPhone friendly container like AVI or MKV, or codec like XviD or DivX while you’re watching. No need to convert-first, watch-later. But would it live up to it? Besides downloading the iPhone App, you’ll need to download the program for your computer (for PC & Mac OS X 10.4+). Neither app/program will work without the other. The iPhone app is basically a front end (UI) to the computer program. The app has four

I have been looking The apps that can stream Like this, and finally i found it!
great job guys
I am amazed at how this works!

Version: 2.0.0
I received this app free from Appgiveaway and I fell in love with it. It is so much easier than I thought due to the good support at the website. I emailed the developer and had a response within minutes. ( That surprised me) I watch a lot of educational videos for college and I am looking forward to learning this neat program inside and out. I have a Mac, and I am surprised at how seamless the integration is. I hope it is as good for PC users. I would gladly pay full price for this app, especially due to the fact that the developer stands behind his promise to answer each email they receive.
Perfect!!!

Version: 2.0.0
Works so well and the live conversion made it even more usable. I can now watch my tv shows and movies on my phone anywhere in the house. Sure it would be nice in theory to have this level of functionality outside my home network but even with a 512k or 1Mb upload speed you are not gonna be fast enough for decent quality steaming from you house. For that, look elsewhere but be prepared for disappoinent. This app is 5 stars!
simply superb

this is my favorite app by FAR! with the new 2.0 update w/ live conversion it put itself over the top and is flat out awesome. developer is fantastic and gets back to you quickly and was very helpful to me. video quality is great and I was even able to stream out a movie over the Internet while staying with some friends over the weekend, had to forward a port on my router and that was it- BAM access all my movie collection on the go! wonderful !! tested on iphone 3gs / firmware 3.0.1
Just what I wanted

Version: 2.0.0
It may have a few bugs, but these don't take away from the product. The video quality is superb. Just the same as if it was saved on your iPhone. The converter is a little slow, but works well and converts into great quality. I would definately recommend this to anyone. Very usefull if you want to watch a different episode of a tv show and hate syncing your iPhone constantly.
EDIT: With the new update, conversion is faster. The live conversion took less than twelve seconds to play the movie. And eye candy increased. Keep up the great work
New version even better

Had a problem upgrading PC after app store upgrade. Contacted tech support at 8:00 PM Pacific and within minutes had a response with solution. Great application that also works well to convert videos to iPhone format for loading into iTunes and storing on iPhone.
Live Conversion makes Air Video shine!

I've played with a lot of OTA video programs out there - Sling Mobile, Orb, Roxio's Streamer, etc. and each has left me wanting a little bit more.

Version: 1.4
Great app needs a tweak to allow mpegs to convert. It would also be nice to see all files in a folder too. Other than that it works as described and is great! Oh and the password should be required each time we want to access files!...
Great Air Time

Version: 1.4
It worked flawlessly and it saves disk space on your iPhone. Video quality works well on the iPhone too. I found installation very simple to install on my apple server, so it's always on and available.
Unable to use app...server software website is down
Frustrated Video Guy
Version: 1.4
I was very excited to try this application, but when I went to download the server portion of the software, the part that runs on your desktop, the vendor's website is down. It's been two days now, and while I can understand a small outfit not having the resources to keep things going 24x7, it reflects very poorly on the authors.
Not bad but video needs to be brighter!

Version: 1.4
It's really good and cool but the video needs to be bright setting or somthing... Plz update!
Great Start

Version: 1.4
I have no complaints. App works as it should. Suggestions for future releases would be ability to adjust more handbrake encoding options, and to be able to change the options on the iPhone.
Promising but not perfect
DavidMills
Version: 1.4
I'm on the fastest wireless imaginable but streaming takes too much time. After 5 minutes or so perfect but my Apple TV is much faster. It's a pity that many movies has to be converted although 15-20 minutes for 2gb+ is fast. Annoying: subtitle ballon is there but if a language is selected no subs!
Wish list:
* separate folder for converted files
* if converted and put into iTunes put the word 'conversion' first so it can be filtered more easily
The best app hands down

Able to stream video to my iPhone and convert on demand. Does exactly what it says and the developer was extremely responsive to emails. Definitely worth the buy!
It's cool but missing something:(

Version: 1.3
Like why can't I play my videos on my t.v this other app I have, athome video can play the video right on the t.v:(please update:)-
missing features
volatex
Version: 1.2
why only wi-fi? if I am going watch a movie I can simply watch it on my computer on a bigger screen. completely missed the point. this app should have been more like video version of simplifi media, where you can stream music anywhere.
Buy It!

Version: 1.1
I've got 300gb of videos all accessible on my iPod touch. Converts videos with one click set up the que and it does all the work. Best app I've ever used!
CONVERSION WONT WORK!
woolyfork
Version: 1.0
...At least not on my iPhone/PC. If I select a video to be converted I get a dialog box that says my video has been sucessfully added to the conversion 'qeue'. But when i switch to the conversion page, it states that there are no videos in the qeue!!?!.. I tried this several times with a range of video formats (.avi, .mov,mpeg2, etc),but conversion function just won't work. Furthermore, unlike the previous poster, I cannot add video playlist from my iTunes library. The program can't seem to even find iTunes on my rig. And there is no option to let you manually navigate to iTunes. It DOES stream correctly formatted videos to the iPhone pretty good. Now if I could only get those other issues sorted out this software could really turn in to a MUST HAVE app...
(Still) Fantastic!

Version: 1.2
I am reiterating my review for a previous version - just keeps getting better and better. This app is a hidden jewel! I've been using it since version 1.0. It lets you stream video from servers on WiFi networks to your iPhone. This means no more making room on your iPhone or AppleTV, loading the movie you want to watch (wait for it to copy), then curling up with it to watch it. You have all the movies in your library readily available to you on your iPhone. Very very handy. Here's to hoping the developer will extent this concept to pictures also!

I'm an idiot... Can someone tell me how to load a server? I'm on a wifi network, but dont know the ip addy or port #. Any help is appreciated.
It works & it works well

Version: 1.1
Loaded up the app, installed Bonjour as I don't have iTunes on my media server, with minutes I was browsing my video catalog and converting older content effortlessly.
If I could ask for one feature it would be live transcoding.
Well done to the programmers of this app, good idea to build on x.264.
Nice app
Banespirit
Version: 1.1
Great app. I've been looking sth like this for a while. With some other apps i can convert faster, maybe there should be more options for conversion.
Also if realtime conversion could be added that would be great. Tricky but not impossible.
Enjoy your video collection anywhere!
the_app_guy
Version: 1.0
This app is awesome! Installed it and within minutes of downloading the server I was converting and watching videos on my phone! I've tried a lot of standalone video converters in the past, but they were all complicated or didnt work; this thing was converting videos for me with a single press of a button. If you want to watch videos on your IPhone or IPod this is definitely the way to go.
Excellent idea!

Version: 1.0
Is your iPhone filled with movies like mine? The description is not entirely clear on this it DOES allow streaming through iTunes!
Pros:
Streams quickly
Relieves space on your device
Easy to use
Good customer support
Has great potential to be even better
Cons:
DRM protected movies do not play
Conversions take a millenium
Pros:5
Cons:2
= 4 stars

I don't review many apps but this does precisely what it advertises and is well worth $3.

After you download the server software for your pc or mac your itouch or iPhone becomes an instant mobile movie player. Incredible and have been waiting for an app like this. Now all my memory can be used for music and other apps.
