American Airlines wants to make it easier for you to travel and the company has just released an app for the Apple iPhone which will also include a mobile boarding pass capability. It’s not the first airline to release an Apple iPhone app, but the American Airlines app allows you to book and check-in for flights, view terminal maps, track your elite status program, check your flight status, the aforementioned boarding pass capability and a whole lot more. “The app is the latest in a series of customer technologies we’ve introduced to help improve the customer experience, and we are developing immersion apps for a wide range of other mobile devices. Might be a good app if American had remembered that their old advantage number were all digits. It won't allow me to sign in with an all digit number. Fix it please.

This has to be the best airline-supplied travel app in the App Store right now. Without having to dive into a bunch of menus, it shows my personal flights right away as soon as I log in - and I can check in and see the boarding pass right there. The maps are pretty cool, and I like the way the flight searches use the iPhone way of doing things to make the lookup simple. The only thing I would like is if I could handle my upgrades in the app - it seems like there's not really a way to do that easily. So please add upgrades, AA! Other than that, this app has great functions. And it looks cool, too!

Been waiting a long time for this. Really glad to finally see it! I'm very excited to see stand-by lists on the app. Will help me evaluate when to run to a gate. Would love to see the upgrade list on the app, too. Continental has been way ahead in this area for a long time. Nice to see AA taking baby steps to catch up.

-add more airport maps -make viewing sudoku optional - include list of airports that accept mobile boarding pass w/o having to go to AA.com -your link to AA.com should not require you to sign in again after signing in to the app--can you pre- populate? - some trouble finding flight reservations, even with the PNR
Can't Log in with my AAdvantage Number

The App appears to be a great App from the description - but it is of no value to me because I can't log in. I have been an AAdvantage member since May 1, 1981 (over 29 years) and my AAdvantage Number is literally all numbers. I believe all long time members have similar all number account IDs. This needs to be fixed!

Great app. But needs to expand the number of terminal maps. Also, terminal maps don't show Admirals Club locations. Speaking of which - a separate tab under "More" for Admirals Club might be a good idea. Give a text listing of locations, facilities and operating hours. Still, great app!
Useless

It accepted my AA advantage # and showed me my miles, but didn't recognize my booked flight in September, even when I entered the record locater #. It's there on the website when I log in so I don't understand why this app couldn't find it. I checked out the terminal info and there were only seven or eight, and I couldn't find the means to delete those I don't fly into and add major airports, such as LHR.

Application Does Not Work

I tried to use this application, but as a 20+ year Advantage member I was unable to get the app to allow me to log in. My Advantage number is all numbers and I get an error that says "Error: aadvantageNumber - AAvantage Number should contain both alphabets and numbers". Looks like AA did a lot of regression testing on this application before releasing it.

Airline App Greatness - and it has a Suduko game!

Used it this morning on my flight to Austin. Checked in, used the electronic boarding pass and even took a photo of where I parked my car. The best thing about it was that it was getting flight notifications 15-20 minutes before any of my other travel apps showed updates. This is great! It beat my TripIt, Worldmate and Flight Update apps that i have installed on my iPhone!

The current version will not accept an aadvantage number that only contains numbers. It wants an advantage number that includes both numbers and a letter, but the earliest aadvantage numbers only contain numbers. So if you have one of those early numbers you cannot log on and use the app. Needs to be fixed.
