UPDATED

-Now fully tested to support iPhone OS 3.0.

- Progress and loading screens added

- Added ability to download smaller amounts of numbers - located in Settings.

What Blacklist Does

Blacklist creates a contact named "Blacklisted Number" full of thousands of numbers (over 30,000 and growing) belonging to US telemarketers, scammers, and prank callers on your iPhone so that when one of these numbers calls, you know not to answer. With the minutes it saves you, Blacklist should pay for itself.

How Blacklist Works

Blacklist connects to callerdb.com's extensive database of problem callers every time you sync. You can do your part and add to this database by using the Submit Number feature.

Basic FAQ:

Now found at the support site,

NOTE: This app has nothing to do with the similarly named "iBlacklist" for jailbroken iPhones. There is NO way to block calls through legitimate apps on the app store.

To the reviewers - thank you for your honesty! I'm sorry the app slows down syncing, unforunately there's no other way to get access to the list (of blacklisted numbers) during an incoming call so as a developer you have to put it in the address book. If Apple allows us to query our database during an incoming call this app would be 100% better I agree!

Android Gets "True" Caller ID via New App
Mini_discussion_bubble ReadWriteWeb - Posted Thu, 05 Aug 2010 15:55:04 UTC +00:00
First Orion, maker of a popular call-blocking and caller identification app for BlackBerry smartphones, is today revealing a new Android application which promises similar features. The app called PrivacyStar lets Android users block calls, report violators of the Do Not Call law and utilize the real Caller ID services. Although there are a number of Caller ID-type applications already out there for mobile phones, PrivacyStar actually connects with the SS7 Network. In the telephony world, this set of signaling protocols allows for the existence of services like call forwarding, call waiting, call screening, busy callback, caller identification and more. However, PrivacyStar's claim that this SS7 connectivity for True Caller ID makes the app an "industry first" appears to be a bit of hyperbole. Competitor Privus Mobile, for example, can also connect with SS7 via its set mobile Caller ID applications. As explained in this forum posting (from 2008!), PrivusMobile's CTO says Read More

Worthless

This program does not work. I put in a specific # to blacklist. It accepted it but did not notify me that the # entered was a blacklisted number. Useless program if it does not work!

Since upgrading to 3.01 (I have a 3G 8gb, non-jb) I have been having issues.
Slows down everything

This app is a great idea but is too slow to use. Its huge contact slows down launching the phone, contacts app, calls list, and other system apps. I wish I could use it, but I can't wait 5 seconds every time I try to launch the phone app.
Awesome!

Simple, straight forward, and performs exactly as described. Can't wait to see the next update. Do not misjudge this app based on the hardware limitations.

this is a royal pain ... once you load it which takes a while, but when you try to sinc your iphone 3g it takes forever to sinc the stupid thing. Great idea to eliminate answering calls but a royal pain in the butt in use!
What a nightmare

This is a total nightmare. I just spent 3 hours trying to get rid of the blacklist list contact without success. Restored my phones, tried to erased all my contact by syncing to a dummy yahoo account, but it just wouldn't go away! When is the fix going to be released? I hope this guy keep his words. Do not take our money, caused us all these troubles and walk away!
Worst App Ever Made!!

For one thing, it does not do anything usefull. It just creates a contact with thousands of numbers. I was hoping to block calls from just two numbers that were annoying me. I could have created a "Blacklist Number" Contact on my own. Syncing takes a hopelessly long time because the contact has so many numbers. Want to erase the contact? Too bad, the phone freezes up when you try to scroll down to delete. My phone kept freezing up and the call button disappeared.

I agree with the other review. It takes FOREVER! to sync your iphone so I deleted the app because I didn't want to wait sooo long to sync my phone but came to realize you can't delete the stupid thing. Even after deleting, it still syncs all the blacklist numbers and blacklist numbers will still remain in your contacts. They really need to fix this..PRONTO!
