Botany Buddy

Version: 1.1
I just bought this app and I must say it seems very extensive. I am happy and plan to use it for self-education. I will say, though, that I would appreciate a way to quickly identify trees by such things as leaf shape by picture as I am a rank amateur and know nothing about latin names.

I don't like the fact that you must spell everything correctly or it won't find what your looking four.
Very Informative

I'm currently studying plant biology and this app is a great source of info. This is the most expensive app I've ever bought but it's definitely been worth it so far.

Having a great time with this app. Had a client ask what type of tree we had in our ceremony site and was able to quickly look it up and let him know.
Off the grid genius for landscapes !

Version: 1.0
Great app ! The genius here is that you can be off the grid and still access all the information. Nothing beats being out in the yard, at a job site, or even in an meeting and being able to query and pull up every tree and shrub that fits a spot. This app will pave the way for high end iphone and mobile landscape needs. I look forward to the future of this app!

I posted an unfavorable review that SOMEHOW didn't get published. I'm going to try again in order to save as many people $9.99 as possible. This app is a joke. There are more holes in its data than I can possibly begin to enumerate. Take, for example, the humble eucalyptus tree. There are eight entries, none of which are any eucalyptus I've ever heard of, but missing are the blue gum (E. globulus) and E. citriodora that are as common as weeds here in California. Enter "euphorbia" and you get nothing. Enter "poinsettia" and you get nothing. I could go on and on. This app could some day, with a lot of work and updating, become something quite useful. At the moment, in my informed opinion, it is a waste of money. Now, let's see if this review gets published.
Love it!

Tons of information, useful pictures and features. You can search by name if you happen to know it, but there is also a very extensive advanced search for finding plants by various features.
Better than a shelf of field guides...

I bought the app today and took it for an extensive test drive. The database is pretty amazing. I'm giving it 5 stars, although this version is missing a few basic eastern trees. It's good to know that the botany buddy team willl be updating and want to hear when something needed is missing. I know most of the trees around me, but every now and then one confounds me. A shelf full of books and I couldn't identify a tree down the road. A few minutes with botany buddy and the mystery was solved. I found the interface easy to use. And I really like the collection feature. I spent some time testing it and made the start of a collection of trees on my land. The advanced search was easy to narrow down. I can see this being useful to the professional, as well as the amateur tree hugger.
WOW!!!

I have been following this app on Twitter for awhile. Took almost as long for it to install as it did to get released, but soooo worth the wait and the ten bucks!!! One of the best garden tools I've ever bought! Only covers trees and shrubs, but easily worth way more than 10 dollars. Can't wait for the next one. AWESOME!!!
So many pictures!

I couldn't believe how much information was available in this app. Of particular note was the variety of images. Flowers, Seeds, Leaves for nearly every plant... some even show the difference between summer, fall, winter & spring. Never again will I need to drag my field guide with me!
