Perfect running companion 5.0 stars
By: jonathan.
Version: 1.1
This is my absolute favorite iPhone aol and I couldn't live without it. It's addicting and makes you want to exercise all the time to see all the data on the website. I recommend this app to ALL iPhone users who want to track their runs/walks/bike rides and encourage themselves to continue to do their bests. The app works great. Here is a run down of how the app works and what you can do with it. When you load it up, the GPS locks quick, and the app lets you play a playlist. I turn the settings auto lock to off, as the app has it's own lock screen. Then I just run. The app tells you some quick info while running, like calories, distance and time, but while running I do not even look at the screen because I don't feel the need to. When I've completed my run I hit finished and it uploads my data to the website. On the website there is a TON of information gathered from your session. It has charts of elevation and speed, and data for time, distance, calories, total ascent, elevation, pace, best mile, and the time it took to do each of the miles that add to your total (mile 1, mile 2, mile 3). It also has your path plotted onto a map which you can view by satelite view, map view or elevation view. The website also stacks all your sessions on one screen for easy comparing. You can set goals, and leave comments for each run. Additionally you can share your run/walks/bike rides via Twitter, Facebook or email. I cannot believe how great this app is and how cheaply it is priced. The best part is, it is not even draining on the battery! Fitnio is great for seeing the progress you've made, comparing your sessions and encouraging yourself to keep going. REQUESTS AND IMPROVEMENTS would be a forum to make the experience more social. This is a great app that every active iPhone user, whether it be runner, bike rider, or even walker, should get.

This is a great free app. Website has a nice clean look to it. It would be nice to track a few more activities.

I downloaded this program to my phone yesterday and tried it out on a bike ride. Overall I was rather impressed. Although the current speed indicator is rarely correct, the distance compared well to what my cycle computer was showing. When I finished the ride, however, the average speed/pace was way off. Seems like this should be simple calculation based on total distance and total time, but it was approximately 5mph off what was correct. The best part of the app, however, is the website. The route display on Google maps was surprisingly accurate, and the site provides a great way to log all of your exercise. Two concerns, though: 1) when browsing to fitnio.com on my iPhone, all it will show me is a page asking if I have setup my iPhone. Why can't I view the same stats as from my computer? 2) The site intro page shows much more info being displayed about rides/runs than I actually see when logging in. It seems to show some charts for speed and elevation change over time/distance, all of which are absent when I look at my info. Overall, though, a great app for free. Hopefully they're still implementing features.
It works really well for me! 4.0 stars

I cannot agree with the negative reviewers. I've never had issues with the GPS - mine has worked every time. (Uou just have to give it 15 seconds to source). It's always been pretty consistent and accurate. (I checked by measuring with my car). All round, I think it's a good app. The data uploads work well and are instantaneous, it stores my history, the site isn't bogged down other brands advertising. And, yes it's free. Someone went to the efforts to write the code, design the app, and design the web site. ALL for free. How can you argue with that?

Indeed...a little app with powerful information that, if accurate, could help you achieve your fitness goals. If the calculations are accurate, that is.

Works exactly as advertised. I love seeing my walks on the map online. It makes me want to try new and different places, speeds, etc. And it's fun to share with others via the email/share link on the website as well...good for accountability.

I have been doing the Couch to 5k program and using this app simultaneously. I love to be able to get back and track my progress. People complain about the GPS tracking, but I see that as a more of a hardware issue and filtering through the noise. I look forward to the fixes in this latest release.
Good, but needs improvements 4.0 stars

Version: 1.0.2
Love the idea, and am overall pretty pleased with the app, but would like things to be fine-tuned: app crashes when you attempt to select emergency contact, GPS interruption occurs a bit too frequently for me (could happen if you receive a text message?), and I wish you could see your history on your phone. The menu on the phone doesn't really work for me, either -- there's no data in the records field, and I'm not sure what the "counter" is for -- the number seems random. Also - elevation gain is different even when I walk the exact same path... Not sure what that's about. Would love to see the app fine-tuned - looking at my routes and statistics is fascinating for whatever reason, and motivates me to continue getting out there and walking. Overall however, a great app for the price. Would gladly pay for a more polished version though. :)

First off it's FREE. Seems pretty accurate for distance traveled. Average mph was accurate too. Just what I was looking for at just the right price. The website is a nice addition too. The mapped route on Google maps was pretty accurate. One minor glitch with the website was that it zeroed out my stats for one of my walks. Great app and great price!!!
Good, but needs work 2.0 stars

Version: 1.0.3
Reliability is an issue. Too many times it takes too long to lock in GPS; too many times does it quit during a workout; if a call or text comes in, forget it. When it does work, it is great. Love the GPS map record. Bit if it is going to make the world my treadmill - it MUST get basics right.
Great! Add rollerblading please?!?!! 5.0 stars

Version: 1.0.2
I love this app and use it for jogging/walking and then to track my pace/route on rollerblades but of course the calories aren't accurate for rollerblading since it's not one of the options. I love it anyway but it would be even better!! I'm sure I'm not the only blazer out there and the season has arrived. Could pay off ;)

Good application overall, with a nice simple website that isn't bogged down with advertising. The data i get on the phone isn't exactlly what appears on the website though (although pretty close). I emailed the developer about it and we'll see if there is a fix. I would also like to see more data available withing the iphone app itself - i.e. daily and weekly excercise monitoring (the app just keeps a running tally).

Give this app a try I have had 2 rides and 2 runs both maps very accurate. Interface slick and simple. I had a problem with signing in to the web site on the first go round it was my typo on the virtual iphone keyboard, i contacted support and they had my mistake corrected and all my data was uploaded. Give it a try

Simple and free. Maps fairly accurate to google earth and distance seems pretty accurate. Some minor bugs, that will probably be fixed. Great replacement for nike+ since it is not supported on the iPhone.
Not Ready for prime time 1.0 stars
By: explorz
Version: 1.0.1
This is the first of the fitness tracking apps I have tried. It worked great out on the run. Never quit, pause function worked nice. It accurately mapped my route across open country. However, the numbers were too small to really be able to see average speed while running. When I got home I checked the website and the log there did not match that on the iphone. Fitnio correctly logged my mileage on the iphone at 6.48 miles. But online the mileage said 10.10. As well the calories burned online were higher than on the iphone as was the elevation gain. So, while it accurately recorded info and my route on the iphone. The online interface was totally inaccurate and therefore useless.

This is the best app for keeping track of your running or biking. I downloaded all the free apps that were supposed to track your running, but none of them would track your biking or say how many calories you've burned, which is really helpful when you are trying to stay healthy. Can't wait to see what they add in the next updates, b/c it really has potential!

This is a great app for running or biking. The resulting maps are much more accurate than the competitors that I have tried inlucing iMapMyRun and TrailGuru. The interface is simple clear and readable. The screen lock feature is fantastic. Best of all, the support is great and the developers are really responsive to feature requests. All of my friends are using this app now too. I am confident that this will be the standard outdoor fitness tracking application.

I was looking for something to replace my Nike+ on our evening walks. I tested this app on my iPhone 3G during my lunch hour. I like how it mapped my route to google maps. Only issue I ran into is that I stopped the counter, started a Podcast, then went back to Fitnio. The distance and time continued to log, but the calories was stuck at 5.1. That's what ended up being uploaded to my web profile as well. I sent them an e-mail, we'll see how they respond to this little glitch. That's the only thing keeping it from a full 5 stars.
Nice, but needs some improvements. 4.0 stars

Version: 1.0.2
This works great to track you and your route. Love the fact it has walk, run, and bike options. It's a little slow picking up the GPS, but it's not as slow as some reviews say it is. Needs to get GPS faster, and update the website faster. Sometimes the website is updated as soon as you are done, & other times it's almost 8 hours. I like to look at my info right away. Another nice improvement would be an option to view your history locally on my iPhone, as well as the website. I would pay for all of these updates and improvements. All in all a great program that has helped me get more motivated to go out and exercise. Thanks.

Please continue development, the only problem I've had is after I select an emergency contact number, the app crashes and does not save the number. All the main functions of the app work perfectly. I have been running with this app for 6 months now. Thanks so much.

I had high hopes for this app, but I have tried it on two runs now and am very disappointed. It works great while running, showing me my time, speed, distance, etc. However, the app never uploads the info to the Fitnio website which is the main perk of the application. I followed all of the instructions for setting up the app and created a Fitnio account, but when I sign in it just brings me to a screen asking me if I have set up my iPhone yet. Please fix the bug, I would love to give the app a second chance!

I use this app everyday. It is so easy to use and understand. If you love to run or train- this app is a must. Haven't had any problems with it, but sometimes it takes a few minutes for the GPS to find my location. Thanks Fitnio.
