Macworld 2010: Steve and Mike's excellent HP adventure
Mini_discussion_bubble TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Posted Tue, 16 Feb 2010 14:00:00 UTC +00:00
One of the highlights of TUAW's visit to Macworld Expo 2010 was a pre-show tour of the HP booth on Wednesday, February 10. HP has a long and storied history with Apple, with both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak working for the company at one time before founding Apple. The company has created many Mac-compatible printers over the years, and has worked quite closely with Apple in recent years to insure that drivers for current and past printers are included in Mac OS X. HP's team welcomed us to their booth as the show was still being set up. Eric Killian, Worldwide Training Manager for SMB Inkjet Printing Systems, showed off two brand-new printers for the Mac; the OfficeJet 4500 All-in-one and the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Premier. The OfficeJet 4500 is not currently listed on the HP site, but we'll update this post when a link to the new member of Read More

Great start needs bug fixes
Moonshine12c 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
It is great to have the 12c on the phone with me all the time. I have found some bugs though. One thing is when computing power functions in RPN mode it does not accuratly solve a negative to an even exponent; it outputs a negitive number. Hopefully HP will correct the little bug soon and others that people have found.
Another shoddy, overpriced port from HP

Buttons are illegible. And even after all the complaints on their earlier products, they STILL released this one with the key clicks too loud and not adjustible. At least for this one (unlike the 15c) you can download PDFs of the real manuals from the HP web site.
Disappointing

There are much more comprehensive rpn calculators at better prices out there and this one is clunky and relies on nostaglia rather than features to sell. Definitely feel I wasted my 20 bucks on this one and will keep using pcalc for ease and features.
Disappointed

I eagerly awaited the Platinum 12C, but the resolution of the keys is not as sharp as it should be. In particular, the red type for the alternate keys is fuzzy. For $20, the display is quite a letdown. HP's "Platinum" appears to be a knock-off by a third party vendor. I can't speak for the regular 12C, but this version did not live up to my expectations. Perhaps an update will fix it. Until then, I'd look at the less expensive alternatives for this 12C. If I knew how to request a refund, I would.
Excellent Financial Calculator!!!

I have been using the original 12c calculator for about 20 years. Unfortunately, when I need to use it at home, often I realize I left it at work. For me, this 12c Platinum app is great! I will have a 12c with me all the time. I use RPN 99% of the time, but I like having the Algebraic mode with the parentheses keys as an option.
