The Institute for Energy Research (IER) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Since its inception two decades ago, IER has been dedicated to the principle that free markets provide the most efficient and effective solutions to the nation’s energy and environmental challenges.

From its earliest days as a small, volunteer-run public foundation to its position today as a premier source for sound energy research, IER has been committed to educating and engaging policymakers and the American people. It is through that commitment to research and education that IER developed a reputation for solid, timely, and relevant analysis.
