Posted 08/20/2010 at 11:59am | by Cory Bohon Whether you’re just getting into iOS development, or you’re a seasoned pro coding away since 2008, sometimes you need a few resources to pull off a successful application. Otherwise, your apps could get lost in the dark corners of the App Store. To help you build the best app you can, we've gathered our ten favorite resources for iOS developers. These tools can help you throughout planning, developing, and managing your applications in the App Store. Planning Your Applications Ahhh... the planning stage. It’s where the spark of an idea is placed on a whiteboard, paper, or wireframe sketch. This part of the development process is like magic, and here are a few applications that can make it even more magical. Mockingbird is a bare-bones, web-based wireframing application for those times when you need to simply get the visual idea out of your

Just weeks ahead of the official release of Apple's next-generation operating system for mobile devices, iOS 4, the App Store is ready to accept iOS 4 apps. To make the process easier, Apple released an App specially designed to help developers track sales and trend data, right from their iPhones. Apple's iOS 4 incorporates everything from video calling to multitasking, separating Apple's mobile device operating system even further from the competition, and those apps are now being accepted for the App Store. Developer's are sure to be excited about the many enhancements offered by Apple's iOS 4, including multitasking for background audio apps, VoIP, background and push notifications, task finishing, and fast app switching, iAds--Apple's new advertising platform--the new social gaming network GameCenter, and 1,500 new APIs covering calendar access, in-app SMS, photo library access, video playback and capture, map kit improvements, and a new quick look feature. Apple has also

Only days away from the new iPhone launch, Apple has opened the iOS 4 door to devs and is now actively seeking and accepting app submissions. On June 21st, Apple will release the new operating system once simply called "iPhone OS." iOS 4 is the pretty new packaging for the operating system that lets the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad chug along. Packed to the brim with new features like multitasking, folders, and even iBooks, Apple has been very self-congratulatory about its new iOS 4. But, as always, it's the devs who shine most in situations like these. And Apple is ready to put the spotlight on them. Log in to iTunes Connect and submit your iOS 4 application now, so it will be ready for sale when iOS 4 is available to iPhone and iPod touch users. Make sure you have built and tested your app using iOS 4 and

Thanks Apple, this is a really useful app. I hope to see an iPad version in the future.
Not Acceptable

Strange that so many people think this is so great. Take a look at AppSales Mobile (do a Google search to find it), which was rejected by Apple, but is still maintained and given to developers as source code. That privately maintained app that doesn't make money for the developer blows Apple's relatively weak offering out of the water. By a lot.
Sorry Apple. You do so many things so well, but this one is a complete flop. You should have just bought AppSales from OMZ if this was all you could come up with. At least give an option to save passwords for goodness' sake!
A for Apple!

I was perfectly content getting all of this info from the web but now that I have it all in an iPhone app, I don't know how I'd go back. Apple always knows what I need before I now I need it. Thanks to all at Apple for another great job! Thanks for this app!!!
Awesome intentions, Needs some key features.

Hey Apple,
I'm super excited you guys have chosen to support the developers with this. It looks like a good start but it's missing some key features:
• Lots of us develop for more than one account and would like to add them all.
• There needs to be a way to see your total apps sales from it's release date. I understand the weekly reports don't go back that far but why not use the monthly ones two and take out duplications so we can have more data?
• It's not "app specific". We should be able to select an app and then see all of it's data instead of the market data for all the apps on the account.
• We also need reviews and ratings to help us improve our products.
It's a good start and an even better display of your direction to keep supporting us making great apps but for now I'll stick with "MyAppSales" till the update comes out and blows the current one away.
Disappointing.

I wish this app could show you how much money you made, rather than just how many sales you had. I assume they don't do this because they couldn't guarantee the currency rates, but a simple disclaimer could solve this and make this app much, much more useful.
OK

This app is okay, but it is really lacking in features. I would like to access financial reports here as well as weekly and monthly graphs. Small app developers with only one app (like me for now) only sell 0-3 apps/day. These graphs don't really help me. Some totals for all apps sold ever would be nice too. It would be great if I could access all of my data. It would be awesome if the graphs (or at least the big landscape mode one) could scroll to the left and right so that I could see and access all of my sales. Some statistics in tables would be nice too. How many did I sell in each week, month, etc. Some parts of the UI are also a little weird. It feels like Apple made it, just not very well.
Waiting since day one, but

It's a very polished app and it was something I waited for since the App Store was first introduced. However in regard of features, there are plenty of spaces to fill up. There's definitely a lot of things that Apple can learn from other pre-existing Sales tracking app in the App Store. Sales conversion tracking in a default current would be nice (maybe as an option) rather than the current app sold. It wouldn't be a point if 1 app = $1 gained, who's going to calculate what I'm going to get from you after your 30% cut?
Has potential

I am very happy to sees them release an app like this, but It needs the ability to show dollar amounts, and to see reviews from all the countries. All of the third-party apps have those as basic features.
It's a good start, but needs more features to be really useful. This will be nice to get a quick idea of each day's sales without having to log into the website at least.
Great

Good app but I have to sign in EVERY TIME I OPEN IT!! that's really annoying, can you not keep me logged in??? 5 stars when that happens... Finally apple does something for developers!
good application, a bit sluggish even on the 3GS.

Needs iPad universal support please.
It's okay

Version: 1.0
It's not as good as AppSales-Mobile, but it's pretty nice. It needs an iPad version. It's a little hard to figure out what everything means. AppSales-Mobile is more organized.
Overall, it is great, but I will continue to use AppSales-Mobile.
Love it!

A little rough

What's with the cancel button on the login screen? I was curious so I hit it and then was unable to login until I restarted the app.
I got a variety of error messages on different tabs too, but for the price I can't complain.
Same lack of care as iTunes Connects
San Marcos
Version: 1.0
The application is ok, but it show the same patterns as the buggy and badly designed iTunes Connect web interface. No way to see actual money made, no way to see reviews (on iTunes connect web no way to see all reviews). UIPrerenderedIcons fail completely in this application, no border rounding is applied and the PNG alpha is not respected on the original image. The tab bar has an bad looking non-standard bottom padding. The settings screen shows a remarkable lack of care (no capitalization, UISwitch cut off). The login screen should also offer to use your current iTunes account tied to your device and provide an email keyboard for the username.
This is not much of a critique of the app itself, which is ok for a first release, but of the constant lack of polish Apple applies to iTunes Connect (especially on the web). It really does not feel like the 'real' Apple is behind this but some outsourced team is doing all the work.
Not bad for a version 1

I have AppSales and My App Sales, and this isis very basic BUT it has one advantage: it gets the 26-week history the history directly from the ICM database, so there is no need to import any data. I wish it game me access to ALL the data (1 1/2 years worth, in my case).
Needs work
jamone13
Version: 1.0
It's sluggish even on an iPad. It lacks the ability to show revenue. It only seems to want to show quanity. I feel that AppSales Mobile is far better at this stage. I'm glad that Apple is finally offering a solution though, but it needs some work.
Apple has done it again! Excellent

Really good application, Finally something for the developers
Useful but doesn't look like Apple made it. No "reviews" either!
Singh ライオン
Version: 1.0
With all the hopes Apple updates and bring more usefulness in this app in future, here's my review: Seriously, this is the thing every developer wants on their iPhones. Apple has been rejecting third party app sales tracking apps. And what we now have, is an official app.
Let me say, this iTunes Connect Mobile brings me no useful "presentation" except a graph for everything that can be filtered by location, days and apps. That's probably all the information I would need, but I'm not a computer to parse everything. I have to read the numbers and parse everything in my brain, which is not what I expected from an official app. SILLY.
Apple, you should have used the open source AppSales Mobile to base this on. Find it on github.com.
Also, no reviews!
Seriously Apple, did your iTunes Connect account get hacked to upload this kind of quirky UI app? Even the tab bar items on are off by a few pixels! You're dealing with developers by selling this app!
