It’s hard to believe, but it looks like we’re finally out of the doldrums of winter. For those who live in climates with more distinguishable seasons, April bears witness to the emergence of the warmer sun, longer days, and the promise of summer — all ushering in the start of another gardening season. Those who garden know that timing is everything, and a bountiful crop requires planning and organization. For novice and advanced gardeners alike, there is always something that can be learned about getting the best from the earth. Following are 10 great gardening apps that serve that very purpose, and can help yield juicier tomatoes, more fragrant rosemary, and brighter hydrangeas. Although the cost of this app is high, gardeners of all levels will appreciate the sheer volume of information that is contained in Landscaper’s Companion. This app serves as an encyclopedia of more than 1,400 plants across 16 Read More

Changed review from 3 to 1 stars

I just changed my review after using this app for a few weeks. It turns out that everything in here has just been taken from Wikipedia. Several of the plants are used up to five times by just renaming the same photos. Many of the plants are named wrong, or practically made up. Example: "Oak Tree" There are lots of oaks, but not in here just one and it doens't even tell you what kind of Oak it is. In fact the photos are of a couple different Oaks making this impossible to use as reference. Most of the information is just incorrect. The search filters are based soley on sun and water which are subjective depending on where you are, and all in all this thing is completely worthless. Save your ten bucks. There are good apps our there for trees for the same price. If you don't want to spend $10, get a free Wiki app, it is bound to be more usefull than this.
Borderline Plagiarism

Google any of the plant names in this app and their associated images popup within the first page or so. Too bad the developers did not use other people's research as well, this app rife with mislabeled plants and other errors. Not cool. The general concept is solid, I just hope updates will entail more original content and fewer plant repeats as to boot.
Cannot download after payment

Attempted download ten times on two different computers, two different internet high speed connections and on iphone two differnent wi-fi connections. Repeatedly corrupted files; after three hours gave up. No way to contact Stevenson Software on web sites.

Frugality is a word I love! I had my iPhone 3GS for months before I was able to stomach the tiny cost of my prima $0.99 app. However, as I near the purchase of my first home, and yard... I needed a quick reference guide to counterbalance the not-so-green thumbs at that home store. This was the app I needed! My garden is bound for success with a little work, 80 hours of install, and years of trial & error; however, at least now during the future trips to the store that clerk will at least "think" I know what I am looking for. The best $9.99 app I have puchased! Sinceramente, Pietro
Excellent app, high quality images. *Recommended!*

This app is cleanly organized and very functional. Extremely useful for those with a green thumb who want to know pertinent info like what plants thrive in which climate zones. Easy to navigate and find what you're looking for. Good job.

I have been using other applications to store and use photos/information of the plants in my garden. Now they are provided for me with this really nice application. I have only been using it for a few days and already it has been a great benifit to me. Thank You Developers!
Perfect for even a casual Green-Thumb!

Don't let the name fool you… Landscaper's Companion is not just for landscapers. It is perfect for gardening enthusiasts, green thumbs, and flower freaks as well. I could spend hours looking a photos or browsing herbs, houseplants, and planning next year's garden.
Tries to do too much and comes up short
Plantofile 3.0 stars Version: 1
This app is a nice thought and has nice interface, but unfortunately doesn't have enough info to support what it is trying to do. With only 500 plants, there aren't enough in it to cover all the different categories like annuals, perennial, cactus, trees, etc. The info is spread way too think. Also the search info is nice if you know what you are looking for and want to know more about it, but it is not really set up for identifying plants, and if you are using it to choose a plant there are not enough plants in it to get good results. I have bought 3 garden apps in the last two weeks. This one I would rate #2. For the price I expected more. I bought a $10 botany app that focused on trees and shrubs, and it actually reminded me of my $30 bird app. The $4 tree identification app was really disappointing. I also own plant references ranging from $100 to $1500 as well so I don't think my standards are unrealistic. This one just kind reminded me of a series of flyers I could have gotten at a garden center for free. I am sure they will make a buck on it, but I don't see it as something that will change the way I go about my gardening business.
