MindMeister comes to the iPad
Mini_discussion_bubble TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Posted Sat, 31 Jul 2010 00:00:00 UTC +00:00
Looking for even more productivity on your iPad? MindMeister has released an iPad version of their collaborative mind mapping application, allowing iPad users to mind map locally and sync with the web version to share ideas with others. We've mentioned MindMeister before, and they were part of our suggestions for mind mapping on the iPhone, but ever since the dawn of the iPad, I've been waiting for it to come to the big screen! MindMeister on the iPad may not be the most complete mind mapping application available for the iPad, at least as far as bells and whistles. It does its job well, though, and the synchronization with the web version is a huge selling point, at least for me. The web version is my favorite online mind mapping tool, with its real-time collaboration features and very useful integration with external web services. Being able to update and edit my Read More

Online mind-mapping service MindMeister gets an updated iPhone app
Mini_discussion_bubble IntoMobile - Posted Mon, 24 Aug 2009 07:07:45 UTC +00:00
Here’s one for the fans of the mind-mapping software. Popular online service MindMeister has a new application in the AppStore, allowing iPhone and iPod Touch users to take their online mind maps with them wherever you go. Simply sign in to your MindMeister account when you first start the app, browse and download your mind maps for local editing and let the application take care of synchronising them with the cloud. Feature wise, MindMeister for iPhone allows user to: If you’re relying on MindMeister for your mind-mapping activities, paying additional 7 bucks for the iPhone app shouldn’t come as a problem. That “additional” part is there in case you’re a paid MindMesiter user, but the app will work with a free basic account, just as well. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited Read More
MindMeister for iPhone, mind map in the cloud!
Mini_discussion_bubble TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Posted Fri, 21 Aug 2009 00:30:00 UTC +00:00
I've mentioned some options for iPhone-based mind mapping before, but I'm pretty excited to let everyone know about the release of MindMeister for iPhone (iTunes Link). MindMeister is a web-based mind mapping application with excellent import and export features for most major formats. They've been focused on collaboration from the beginning, allowing realtime editing of mind maps by multiple participants, and including Skype integration. The iPhone version allows you to download your maps from your account (or start from scratch) and sync changes back to your maps, share maps, and export as MindManager, Freemind, Word, PDF or image files. MindMeister for iPhone (and iPod touch) is an evolution of the MindMaker application, which was acquired by MindMeister. While the online version of MindMeister allows for a range of icons, images and metadata on each node, the iPhone version currently lacks a lot of this functionality. However, it provides a fast, simple Read More

Has Potential, but this release is only for play
Mindbendering 2.0 stars Version: 2.0
The concept of seamlessly syncing mind maps on the iPhone and web has potential and appeal.
Nice interface, but...
Metroninja 2.0 stars Version: 2.0
This app has the cleanest interface of its kind and some nice features like drag and drop branch splicing, but the really useful features like exporting to your desktop for editing or offline desktop editing or unlimited mindmaps or attachments are only available with a PREMIUM membership. And that'll cost you $4/month. Seems the app was designed to hook people into the web-based business and not as a complete, stand-alone app.
Awesome first version, with a few annoyances
ancient_buho 4.0 stars Version: 2.0
Overall does a good job displaying your MindMeister maps on the iPhone and has limited but useful editing capabilities. For a first iteration of the app, it is awesome. Some issues DO make it hard for me to use this app on a regular basis (I frequently use the website):
Waiting
Coachwhip 2.0 stars Version: 2.0
Until the next update comes out this is only good to view, not build anything. Good but waiting.
Looking forward to improvements
Jonathon P 3.0 stars Version: 2.0
I've been anticipating this app for a while, but at this point it's not very useful. First, when scrolling around a map, it's very easy to accidentally move a node--a "scrolling" mode with easy zooming should be available to quickly and easily navigate maps without editing them. Second, there is no "undo" feature. Third, as others have mentioned, there is no way to collapse or expand nodes. Fourth, there is no way to view notes attached to nodes. Fifth, a full-screen mode would be nice. Sixth, an outline mode would also be nice--it would make it much easier to view, organize, edit items on the iphone's small interface. Seventh, the ability to easily move nodes around (the online version has keyboard shortcuts for this)--dragging with the finger is difficult and time-consuming.
Very useful
adegollado 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
This really extends the mind meister online app. Superb! Looking forward to future updates.
MindMapping on the go!
LogicXTGI 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
I've been eagerly awaiting this mindmapper. Their website version is great because I can do mindmaps across multiple platforms, and the data is always in sync. Now I can update them on the go through my iphone also! Looking forward to future revisions with even more features. Keep up the great work!
Great design and easy to use, especially for such a small screen.
Gonzo2.0 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
I am a long-time mindmapper and visual thinker, and this little app is the perfect complement to the Web 2.0 app on my computer. The well thought through design allows me to view my maps and make quick changes and additions on the go without having to break out my laptop. I look forward to continued enhancements (like being able to collapse branches), but this is a great start and takes care of most of my pocket-mindmapping needs.
Worst Mind manager, hands down
youtubeonline 2.0 stars Version: 2.0
Think of a desktop mind manager, ... then take out *all* the cool features. Thats basically what this is, they have a desktop app that does lots of stuff, and this app does none of that.
Great,easy,clean
Toad18 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
I use this everyday for my school homework list. It's a great way to put all the things you have todo down on your iPod.
Not bad some what limited
Los1979 3.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Not a bad start, I'm curios to see where this goes. Some things this version is lacking I would like to see are. 1)circular dependency (more than one parent) use full for working out db table relationships. 2)arrow directions this helps work out a second level of detail or the flow of thought. 3)custom color for nodes. Grouping by color would make things esier to read. 4)export to vue (visual understanding environment) Those are my 2 cents. Cheers, Los
Good App. I love the idea
Mudassir 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
Superb app. Just need Landscape and Email Functionality in different kind of format. Like mindJet, SVG, XML, JPEG and Cayra's format. This gonna make this app in top 25 app. Update: love the new feature. But one thing is little iffy. I don't want the exported map is available online via URL. It should be exported to a local file and then get attached via email on iPhone. The problem is privacy concern. But may be iPhone sdk doesn't support the local export api that developers are using to export in different format. Overall good enhancement I am glad I stick with them and hoped for the feature and they do delivered that feature. Thanks guys.
Solid app
Wwoodard8 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is an elegant design and have seen no crashes - it seems to be a solid app. Would like to see nodes expand to hold more text, ability to delete links and draw new links between nodes.
I was hoping someone would make this.
glenn5528 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
It flows nicely. Works as it should. In the next update I would like the boxes to get larger if I need to write a sentance and the abilty to export or email my mindmap. Good app.
Works as advertised
JKR 3.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Works exactly as advertised for me. No glitches as reported by others. Very intuitive and straight-forward to use. Needs basic features to become "real" tool for mind-mappers (obviously the ability to export; ability to drag item to a different node for rearranging items), but this is a great way to get started on this and give the developer some incentive to deliver on the promised features. What's there works well and as advertised, so that's promising enough for the rating.
Good for a first release
Rustlez 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
It might not have all the features you can think of but I have gotten a lot do so far. I recieved a timely response from support on with a question I had.
Lovely
Matt All 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
It's a delightful application. I use it all the time to map out ideas and projects. If you're visually inclined, you'll love it. I'm holding out on the fifth star for a few improvements.
Node ghosting
Jekle 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
The ruin of maps is actually not permanent. It appears to happen when running a node out of the document bounds while dragging, it can be fixed by carefully dragging the node back in bounds. Then the map is fine. I am looking for 5 enhancements: 1. Expand/collaping parent nodes 2. Expanded mapping bounds 3. Ability to drag a child node to another parent 4. Autospacing to avoid overlap 5. Multiline node titles These are nice to have but I love this software anyway.
Finally
Ilovemoney 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
About time thank you =) so far so good. You don't get a ton features but you don't need them with mind mapping I don't think so anyway. Good app! Oh features to be added rotate screen (landscape) and email...so far that is it.
Disappointment
Danovate 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
A very poor implimentation of a very good idea. The userface does not take advantage of the iPhone interface. A disappointment.
Great app!
niceguy.com 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Got it a couple weeks ago and has really helped me improve my planning process. Idle time isn't so idle anymore... Thanks!
Fantastic!
Need Zen 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great resource. Would give 5 stars for ability to email, and to "freeze" layout when project finalized (so boxes don't move).
So far so good
yirgajeff 3.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
It's an app with good promise and I'm looking forward to the updates. I definitely want email/export and the ability to move nodes.
Good work
Pastor Frank D 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been looking for this. Great start. Clean, simple, works well.
...yeah, About that whole map meltdown problem...
imurban 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Limited feature set? OK, understood.
Not sorry I paid my $4.99
Steve Krug 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I figured it was worth a try since it's the first mind mapping app to show up for the iPhone. It's obviously still in its early stages, but what's there works well, and it's usable as-is.
It's on its way
Discozza 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
It is very intuitive to use. I hope for the ability to add flags or icons in a future release. Export to image or pdf via email is a critical missing component and the main reason for not giving 5 stars. Export to freemind format would be over the top. Great product for a 1.0 release and I would recommend it. Paid $4.99 for it.
