RedEye is your personal remote control.
With the RedEye system you can use your iPhone or iPod touch to control your TV, stereo, cable box, DVD player, and many other devices that receive standard (infrared) signals. In other words, no more hunting through your sofa cushions for all those different remotes – all the control you need is right in your pocket.
RedEye is...
PERSONAL. Each person in your house can use her own iPhone or iPod touch as a controller, and more than one controller can interact with your gear simultaneously.
SIMPLE. One touch launches any activity – watch TV, listen to music, play a video. And custom screen layouts for each activity mean you never have to hunt for the right button.
SMART. Multi-touch gestures for common functions, free software upgrades delivered through iTunes, the ability to control different rooms from anywhere in the house – all cheaper than other universal remotes. ...More

RedEye mini IR adapter for the iPhone and iPad have been recalled for structural issues. The plug can crack away from the case and cause problems. In fact, the plug is attached only with a small piece of adhesive tape, which reduces the total structural integrity to nil. The manufacturer of the C0101...

Filed under: iPhone, App StoreWe posted about the Redeye mini a while back -- it's an IR dongle that hooks up to the audio port on the iPhone to let you control any IR device (your TV, DVD, or whatever else you've got) with the touchscreen on your phone. You need a free app from the App Store to use...

RedEye on the other hand is not a beta and it is currently available to anyone willing to put the price into it. RedEye [iTunes Link] is a universal remote control solution that turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a remote for any IR-equipped device in your home. In other words, it’s an iPhone...

RedEye, their universal remote add-on for iPhone and iPod touch. RedEye goes on sale today. You control the dock using an iPhone app via Wi-Fi, and it sends out infrared signals to control your AV gear. At $188, it's not crazy expensive, either. I mean, the Logitech Harmony 900 costs $400, and even the Harmony 700 is $150. Being touchscreen-based, you can tailor b...

THIS REMOTE IS AWSOME!!

Version: 1.0.5
..and so are the support team! If you want to show your friends one more incredible thing your iPhone can do then THIS IS IT. BUY THE HARDWARE, GET THE APP. If there is ever a problem SUPPORT WILL GO OUT OF THERE WAY TO HELP YOU, I know from personal experience. You can't afford to miss out on this increadible remote. Note: the software is still in beta (they're updating with all sorts of new and stuff). You will need a wifi network for this to work, but who don't have one of those? It's a great time to get in on the ground floor of this amazing application. A little on-hand programming is all that's needed (for now). Once you get past that, this remote is awsome!! Version 1.0.6 is coming soon. GET IT NOW !!!

Well I really need a remote for my tv cause my other remote broke. I thought that app. would be great but then I found out you have to buy a reciever and hardware! How pointless!?! It would be a lot cheaper to just go out and buy another remote. Ge'ez! Plus, not everyone has expensive stuff like lights that can be electronicly turned on & off with a remote and crap. This application is pointless. No need to waste your time,

The latest update, version 1.0.4, is a big improvement, but there is still a long way to go for this hardware to reach its full potential. (Don't forget that you have to buy the hardware. It is not a secret, but some people have missed it and act like they have been conned, even though it is a free app.) There is no list of preprogrammed devices, so you have to teach each command. This has been a problem for me, because even though my Dish Network receiver can receive IR commands, my Dish remote only sends Dish commands via UHF, so I cannot teach these commands.
I feel a little misled about the gesture recognition feature, which is shown in the video on the RedEye website, but it doesn't actually exist yet. Gesture recognition is key to making this a good remote; since you can't feel the buttons, you have to look down to find each button unless you can use gestures.
These are all problems that are understandable for a beta release, and support couldn't be better. All future upgrades are free, so as long as you are willing to work through the initial problems, you're sure to get a good remote...eventually.
The only negative reviews are from people that aren't aware of what this is!

Beware! This is beta software. If you love iPhone apps and are willing to work a little, this is one of the coolest apps with hardware I have seen. It gets better with each update. Current version I am using (1.0.2) works great. I imagine this will come out of beta once they work out the remote codes contracts. Support from ThinkFlood has been amazing. Keep your eye on this company.
Very good application. Excellent support.

This is really a very well written application. The screen options are very versatile. You can really create your own custom remote with only the buttons you use the most on the main screen. Options are available for macros when entering a screen, exiting a screen and when selecting a button. The combinations are endless. I needed to contact support a couple of times to answer questions and they are amazingly responsive and seem very serious about making this a first rate offering. The only drawbacks right now are 1. some delay in pressing the remote button and having the IR broadcast the button to the device (support is working to resolve) and 2. It takes some amount of sophistication by the end user to setup the remote. I don't think #2 is that big a deal since most iPhone users tend to be early adopters and somewhat technical.

I've been using the redeye app for about a week now and so far it has exceeded my expectations. This is not to say that it's not without faults, but being that it's still in beta I believe the best is yet to come. Sean - iphone-journal.com
Very good app. Been waiting for something like this since I got my iPhone.

This app is extremely versatile and customizable. I've programmed 5 different remotes and I'm impressed by the results. Each activity screen can contain buttons from various devices at once.
