For the past 3 years, Readdle has grown to become one of the most successful developers of business applications for the iPlatform. Today marks their 3 year anniversary and they are celebrating with all of you by giving away 1 of 3 iPads and selling all their iDevice apps for only $0.99 (48 Hour sale). That’s right, you can now pick up some great productivity apps like Take A Note, ReaddleDocs (both iPhone and iPad) and Scanner Pro for only a buck. A lot of people really don’t know the history of Readdle. Premiering August 2007, they were the first company to provide iPhone users with a document reader and attachment saver, a whole year before the introduction of Apple’s iTunes AppStore. Since then, they have continued to grow by providing high quality apps that people can actually use on a daily basis. Many of them were reviewed here at TouchMyApps.

Posted 06/28/2010 at 6:15am | by J.R. Bookwalter Despite four generations of updates, the iPhone’s built-in Calendar app leaves a lot to be desired. If you tend to favor Google Calendar anyway, the creators of ReaddleDocs have a new solution for you: Calendars. Readdle Inc. recently announced the availability of their latest app, Calendars. The company made a name for themselves early on with the versatile ReaddleDocs app (available for both iPhone/iPod touch and iPad) and Scanner Pro, but Calendars brings a better iPhone solution for users of Google Calendar. Calendars easily manages your calendars online and offline, with a unique interface that allows you to move events with drag-and-drop simplicity and easily navigate between days, weeks and months. Add events in a single tap, exactly like the web-based Google Calendar on your desktop, or navigate between days with lightning speed thanks to the app’s navigation controls. Readdle’s Calendars also allows

Posted 03/24/2010 at 5:35am | by J.R. Bookwalter Everyone loves a new version of a useful utility app, especially when it brings with it great new features. Readdle is a company that doesn’t disappoint when it comes to ladling on the functionality and improving their apps with every new release, and this week’s Scanner Pro 2.0 is no exception. Readdle’s Scanner Pro 2.0 is the latest version of the company’s portable document scanner for the iPhone. A free update to the $6.99 app, Scanner Pro 2.0 adds Google Docs integration, camera stabilization, automatic edge detection and passcode protection for the entire application. While some folks might get by with using their iPhone camera to snap a quick shot and send it via e-mail, Scanner Pro gets the job done more effectively and professionally. In addition to the ability to scan multi-page documents, you can also upload them to popular services such

Scanner Pro is a US$6.99 iPhone app by Readdle which will let you easily take a picture with your iPhone. We've looked at Scanner Pro before and now a new 2.0 version has been released with page edge detection, image stabilization, and German, Spanish, French, and Italian localizations. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much to address the UI issues that Erica pointed out in her original review. The UI is complicated, and it took me several attempts to even figure out how to take a picture. The screen shot at the right shows the "workflow" for creating a new document (tap the icons at the bottom, working left-to-right, to step through the process). After I took a picture of a page of text, another menu offered to let me "crop" the scan down to particular sizes. it took a bit of effort to get the margins lined up, and eventually I just

Scanner Pro is, you guessed it, a scanner app for your iPhone. It allows you to take pictures of documents, edit their appearance, add multiple pages, and convert them into a PDF for E-mailing or file transfer purposes. Does it work as advertised? Yes, it does. But just how useful you find the app depends on what exactly you ‘re looking to get out of it. If you constantly find yourself in situations where you need to scan multiple-page documents, then Scanner Pro might be for you. If, however, this is something you do only occasionally, then it ‘s probably not worth the price of admission. To use Scanner Pro, you just need to take pictures with your iPhone, or even use the ones already stored on your phone. You can then edit the pictures with grayscale, contrast, and brightness. Once you ‘re satisfied with how all all of the pictures

I’ve reviewed DocScanner, JotNot, and Business Card Reader, three apps which were designed to function as portable scanners. If one lacked in features, the next was unorganised. Many people questioned the need for another portable scanner, but I ask: why use 2 apps when one is enough? Let me put it this way: Readdle’s Scanner Pro really is quite sweet. Scanner Pro is one of the best-designed, least-cluttered scanner apps I have used. All your menu options are so smoothly integrated into the design with a good interface. Now, there are a lot of options available when using this app but there are also a lot of help menus and guides throughout to help you along the way. When you launch you have the “+” button at the bottom along with your wifi IP as well as a “?” to launch the help menu. There’s also the settings button at the top

There's certainly no shortage when it comes to iPhone apps that turn your device into a pocket-sized scanner. At various times, TUAW bloggers have reviewed or discussed Readdle ScannerPro [US$6.99 (currently on sale for US$4.99), iTunes Link], DocScanner [US$8.99, iTunes Link], and JotNot [US$4.99, iTunes Link]. Of course, there is also a flock of business card scanners, but what I'm discussing in this post are the apps that say that they'll replace that flatbed scanner on your desk with a device you already have in your pocket or purse. MobiTech 3000 just released version 2.0 of the JotNot scanner app, and the update appears to be quite useful. I've owned the app for a while and have successfully used it to capture documents for posterity. The update provides a few additional features that I had been hoping for: In part of my quest towards more organization in my personal and business

Readdle released Scanner Pro for the iPhone early last month to much acclaim. The company’s scanner app was able to leapfrog the well established JotNot in the top paid business apps list in only a few days of availability thanks to its ease of use and myriad of features. The one feature that Scanner Pro was severely lacking, however, was the ability to save scans to the popular web service Evernote, but that is no longer the case in v1.1. Scanner Pro is the perfect app to use in those situations where you need to copy a document but just don’t have access to a regular scanner. It features the ability to scan multi-page documents and turn them into industry standards PDF files, which can then be shared via email, uploaded to MobileMe, Box.net, Humyo, or any other WebDAV compatible online storage solution, or even transferred to your computer by mounting

Readdle recently released another handy business app that transforms your iPhone into a portable document scanner, and although the App Store already contains apps of this nature, including the highly popular JotNot, Readdle’s Scanner Pro does a couple things that set it apart. Scanner Pro is perfect for those situations where you need to copy a document but don’t have access to a regular scanner. The app utilizes special algorithms to enhance image quality to make your captured files as legible as possible. It features the ability to scan multi-page documents and turn them into industry standard PDF files. Scanner Pro has a built-in PDF viewer as well, so you can preview all of your scans to ensure it was done properly. You can also password protect your PDF files if you so choose. The act of simply scanning files does you no good without the ability to share them, and

Scanner Pro (iTunes link) from Readdle transforms your iPhone into a portable PDF scanner. For US$6.99, you can combine pictures (chosen from your iPhone photo library, or taken using your iPhone's built-in camera) into a PDF document that you can e-mail or upload via WebDAV. That's a really useful concept, and if Readdle had delivered a user interface as strong and usable as its underlying idea, I'd recommend Scanner Pro as a must buy. Unfortunately, the application desperately needs the tender loving care of a user interface design expert. [For a different -- and much simpler -- UI approach to the same kind of task, you might check out the $2.99 JotNot.] The UI is cluttered and confusing. You're forced into unnecessary screens by a poorly designed work flow. Here's an example; once you scan a new page, the interface asks you to either go back or to process the image.

Very disappointed

Version: 1.0.1
Don't waste $6.99! A scanner is supposed to scan a document, not just make it a little lighter or contrast-adjusted. Tghis is all scanner pro. Pro? You must be kidding me. This is merely a poorly designed image editor. The copies made with this app can't be printed, they look like photos, despite trying all different kind of adjustments. Where is my white background? Where is the press button operation that I get on a scanner? This is useless.
Won't work

This is my first review. I could not get this to work it took a picture of the document. I can do that with the camera

Version: 1.0.1
I have a 3G and the scan comes out pretty dark. I have tried different lighting and brightness and contrast values. It failed the bosses fax it to me instead test. It also is out of focus.
Needs one thing..

Version: 1.0.1
I've been using JotNot for my occassional scanning needs. I bought this because of the improved feature set, and i am not disappointed; but there is at least one thing it can learn from JotNot.
The good:
Flexibility: multipage scans, and the scans are stored so you can add to them or adjust them later.
WebDAV support is awesome. Being able to upload to MobileMe and instantly share is nice.
What they need to add? JotNot does an absolutely superior job in every way of processing the images. Scans of the same page in the same light are much more readable from JotNot than Scanner Pro.
I appreciate the brightness and contrast controls, but i'd much rather have the superior auto adjustment.
For now, I use them together. JotNot takes and process the image. Scanner Pro combines the pages and does the storage and sharing. Id like to see JotNots processing abilities in this app, especially given it's fairly high price.
This app is pretty cool.

Version: 1.0.1
It seems to do everything it claims it can. I'm having a little trouble with focus but that might be the 3GS camera. The talk a little about it in the support section. Anyway, the program works great and it's really easy to use. I can see myself using this quite a bit in the future.
Great pocket copier
smoak5
Version: 1.0.1
The post processing is great at making images clear for print. I took a few snaps with scanner pro of some scientific articles and printed the PDF and the quality was good enough to use!
My only wish is that there was real time adjustments. I would like to see the document lighten as I slide the brightness slider etc. instead having to adjust blindly, apply, and undo if i'm not satisfied with the result.
Best scanner app for business usage

Version: 1.0.1
Scanner Pro has everything I need to scan documents at work. It produces multi page PDF files, allows me to easily add/delete/rearrange pages and even supports password protection for PDF files. Document sharing options are very impressive: Wi-Fi, iDisk, Box.Net, FilesAnywhere and email, all in one app.
Not worth the $$$

This app is no good. You can simple use your phone camera. Do not make the same mistake, look at other scan apps first.
DocScanner 2.0 is better! Sry
Tgvggbjhdc
Version: 1.0
Ok I'm just dumb enough to buy all of the document scanner apps and this one is good, my second favorite, but I like Doc Scanner a little better because it outlines your piece of paper automatically which is awesome! But I actually like this program's user interface a little better.....I actually wish I could combine the two somehow :(
superb image quality -- no need for an office anymore
crash12345
Version: 1.0
Scanner Pro is the best scanner app available for the iphone. i have been waiting for a scanner that could accurately capture a full 8x10 page of closely printed text (as opposed to a credit card receipt). This app captures full text beautifully, and allows for multi-page scanning. There is literally no reason for an office anymore if you have this application on your iphone. Spectacular.
Works great but ...

Version: 1.0
As others have noted needs to get the file sizes smaller and reflect brightness and contrast adjustments so you can see the effect before accepting the change.
Won't connect
Pixel-Pusher
Version: 1.0
Right out of the box this refuses to connect to my .Me account over 3g. Thought that was supported??!! If not, not too useful for me if WiFi is required.
Exceptional!
Singmachine
Version: 1.0.1
Ok sometimes I just don't get negative reviews! Like others I do my homework and I tried others and this one is head & shoulders above the rest! I have a 3 gs and I took the pic just with my iPhone and was not half as clear as when using the app! Plus have you ever heard presentation is everthing this takes a great pic puts it in proffesional PDF form and looks almost at great as my 100 dollar scanner-copier. Great job Readdle!
Evernote intergation is great idea

Version: 1.0.1
Wow guyz, you're really fast on improving! Waiting for update with Evernote integration and PDF search!
This app rocks, just what I need!

Version: 1.0
This app rocks, just what I need! Scans are given special image processing to improve quality (change brightness and contrast). Save scans as PDF and protect with the password before emailing. These features are exactly what I need for my everyday work
I've been looking for this app!!!
JuanaR
Version: 1.0
I've been looking for this app science started using iPhone. I simply scan multi page documents via an iPhone's built-in and then e-mail, upload on my Mobile iDisk or print. No doubt this application is num.1
Great!
Stopa2
Version: 1.0
Really good app!
A scanner in my pocket!
Poorly designed interface, iDisk issues, and buggy
redlinerider
Version: 1.0
This has the potential to be a really great application, but it suffers from a number of really serious flaws. First, the user interface is badly designed, often resulting in confusion as to where to go to perform an action. Second, the iDisk upload option is a mess. The account settings fields are inaccessible in iDisk mode, you have to switch to the Other mode to be able to enter data in the login/password fields. It also flat out does not work -- it tells me my login credentials are incorrect when I can log into MobileMe on my Mac (and on my iPhone using the iDisk app) using the exact same credentials. Thus I have not been able to upload to iDisk. I've also had several crashes when making adjustments to the brightness and contrast, don't do too much before saving.
Oh, this is the best!

Version: 1.0.1
Scanner Pro is just an amazing scanner app! There is no better around than this one.
Nice, but one off for....
icepulse
Version: 1.0
A) lack of real-time brightness / contrast
B) huge file sizes. One page (B&W, no optimization) is 450k? Outrageous. I've received 20 pg. PDFs (text) that are no bigger than that. If I tried to create a 20-pager here, I would imagine it might be too large to email!!
Those points aside, it's very useful.
Great App but please add some things.
uh1hhuey
Version: 1.0
Please allow me to save as a .jpg file as an option to saving as a .pdf file.
It's one of my top 5 most usefull apps!
3MacMinis
Version: 1.0
I downloaded this last night, and used it today to mail a pdf doc to my bank. They needed that or a fax, which I don't have. The quality is fine. It is so flexible, allowing me to NAME the file was awesome. Clicking the envelope icon opened my mail with the file attached, and out it went. This is an example of a great app; well excuted, flexible with options, and easy to use. Well worth the money. If you need to send contracts or other important documents, you can do it from anywhere now. I have a 3GS and the image was excellent. Is this the beginning of the end for fax machines? H'mmmm?
Nice tool

IPHONE A SCANNER? SERIOUSLY?!

Who would have knew that iPhone could become a decent scanner? Well with this app you will be AMAZED. The app does what it is meant to do, take a pic or "scan" a document, save it, view it, and if you like share it. To my surprise the document is actually clear enough to read while ZOOMED in. Let's just say this, if you like the RedLaser app because of it's pure awesomeness then you will definitely want this as an addition for your iPhone. This is a must get people.
Thank you!

This will save me so much money!

Using more iPhone standard UI widgets is the only thing I can suggest to improve the experience. Great job!

Better than jotnot because you can add multiple PDF pages and view your PDF files at any time through app on iPhone. I think it should allow save as photo to iphone as well as PDF option and developer may add it in later since it seems to store an image anyway. Integrated iPhone email is a plus too. Very fast on 3GS. Very responsive customer service as well. Highly recommend as one of the best apps.
