Use TextExpander touch to compose your tweets and then send them directly to BirdFeed, SimplyTweet, Tweetie, Twitterrific, Twittelator Pro.
Text Messaging/SMS
Create a group of frequently-used text messages (e.g. "I'm running late. Be there in 5 mins.") and copy them easily from TextExpander touch to your text messaging app.
Features:
- Compose notes quickly and easily that contain frequently-used text, addresses, phone numbers, email signatures, URLs, etc.
- Automatically insert your notes into Mail and Twitter clients, or copy-and-paste into other apps on your iPhone.
- Add TextExpander snippets from your Mac via your local network.
- Save composed notes in an archive for reuse.
- Use multiple snippet groups.
- Add Predefined Groups such as accented words, symbols, HTML, and CSS.
- Integrated with WriteRoom, Go Mail Yourself, Attendance, Tweetie 2, SimplyTweet and more apps to come.
Note: Given the current feature set of the iPhone OS, TextExpander touch cannot work in the background (as it does in Mac OS X), expanding text snippets while you work in other apps. You must first compose your text in the TextExpander touch Compose screen, and then transfer it to another app.

By Leanna Lofte, Saturday, Aug 20, 2011 | Every week a few of us from team TiPb will bring you our current favorite, most fun and useful App Store apps, WebApps, jailbreak apps, even the occasional accessory, web site, or desktop app if the mood strikes us. As long as they’re iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch related, they’re fair game. To see what we picked, and to tell us your pick, follow on after the break! As much as I love productivity apps, if you spend all your time playing with them, well, you’re not being very productive, are you? That’s the main reason I try to keep things as simple and streamlined as possible. And since my email inbox is very often a makeshift to-do list by necessity, there’s a handful of apps out there that extend that metaphor. One that I’m currently using and liking is Captio. Captio does

By Leanna Lofte, Tuesday, Aug 16, 2011 | SmileOnMyMac, has updated their popular iPhone and iPad app, TextExpander, with Dropbox support. TextExpander allows you to create abbreviations for frequently used chunks of text. Many other apps, such as Twitter apps and notes and to-do apps, support TextExpander so that it’s able to be used natively in those apps. Details and screenshots after the break. With TextExpander touch, you create a library of abbreviation shortcuts for snippets of text that you use frequently, such as addresses, URLs, and standard replies. Tap that abbreviation, and it automatically expands to the full snippet. (You can even insert today’s date automatically with the default abbreviation “ddate”!) You can use your TextExpander touch snippets directly in over 100 apps that support it, including Twittelator, TwitBird Pro, Elements, Simplenote, WriteRoom, Circus Ponies NoteBook, DEVONthink To Go, BusyToDo, Things, and Zendesk. See www.smilesoftware.com/applist for a complete list. Update

I just discovered Paragraft, a text editor for iPad and iPhone that boasts some ingenious Markdown features (if I've lost you already, check out the TUAW Markdown Primer for a crash course). The good parts of Paragraft blew me away enough that I'm able to overlook an ugly icon and some bad interface decisions to deliver a fairly glowing endorsement: this is the first app I've found that has really allowed Markdown on iOS to make sense. There's no shortage of Markdown-enabled apps on any Apple platform right now, and I love that. I love Markdown, and while it's far superior to writing HTML or dealing with Rich Text in an iOS environment, I always miss the Markdown speed I can achieve in TextMate and other text editors on the Mac. Nebulous Notes has the flexibility to start getting there, but you have to build all the macros yourself. Other apps

Nichtsdestotrotz ist die offizielle Support-Shortcut-Aufstellung prominent bestückt (Elements, Simplenote, WriteRoom, Circus Ponies NoteBook, DEVONthink To Go, BusyToDo, Things, etc.). (Affiliate-Link)

Text expansion is a wonderful thing—especially on a mobile device. Typing a shortcut that expands into a larger amount of text can save a ton of time and effort. While TextExpander exists for iOS, it only works in applications that support it and is of limited use. If you've jailbroken, however, you can use Xpandr which works system-wide and costs significantly less. Xpandr is remarkably simple. You open the app, tap Edit, and then tap plus to add a new snippet. A snippet consists of two things: a shortcut and what that shortcut expands to. You enter both, save it, and then you can type that shortcut in virtually any text field and it will expand. Text expansion is certainly not a new concept, but to have it work system-wide on an iDevice is pretty great. Xpander will cost you $2 in the Cydia Store (that's $3 less than Text Expander).

I’ve talked about Xpandr before, the jailbreak app that allows you to create shortcuts, a la TextExpander. When iOS 4 came up, it seems that Xpandr didn’t support it right away, which led me to remove it from my iPhone, or rather not install it when a jailbreak for iOS 4 came out. Up until now, I was using TextExpander which is great but is supported by very few apps in iOS. Yesterday, while I was calling for a dev to create a jailbreak tweak to integrate TextExpander to any iOS application, I was quickly reminded by several of you of the existence of Xpandr, so I installed it again, and to my great surprise, I realized it was working with iOS 4. The love story started all over again… For those of you who don’t know Xpandr, it is an app very similar to TextExpander, which is my most used

Well, yes I read the Lifehacker review comparing Shazam vs. SoundHound (also making its way on to our own site here) where they gave a slight nod to SoundHound for its overall accuracy. However, the hidden gem in my opinion is

Most iPhone text editors support only plain text (an iOS limitation, I believe), which makes it a real pain in the app to create useful little formatting tools, such as the bullet points above. However, many of the iPhone’s plain text editors do support a nifty little app called TextExpander ($4.99), which is a utility for setting up quick text macros. TextExpander can’t run in the background like Pastebot does, but it is integrated into many apps (Notesy, Simplenote, etc.) so that it feels like a background process. This means you can type out “tyvm” and have the TextExpander instantly replace it with “thank you very much”. I don’t tend to use many of these little shortcuts because I’m still getting used to how to use the app , but one great little use case is the one I’ve shown in the screenshot above. Here’s what the case-sensitive “Qq” macro I’m using

Going forward, the artists formerly known as SmileOnMyMac will now just be known as Smile. The name change reflects the company's more diversified software offerings outside of the Mac, which now include an iOS version of its popular app TextExpander on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. In addition to TextExpander, Smile's (wow, it takes a while to get used to the name) portfolio of Mac OS X apps includes PDF editor PDFpen, CD/DVD label designer DiscLabel, and its fax app PageSender. Smile's name change is similar to a move that Apple made. Citing its changing product portfolio, which included products outside of the traditional computing paradigm, Steve Jobs announced at Macworld 2007 (where the iPhone debuted) that the company would be changing its name from Apple Computer to Apple, Inc. Accompanying the company's name change is a new logo (sans the "on my Mac") and a new URL (it has

This post originally appeared on the American Express OPEN Forum, where Mashable regularly contributes articles about leveraging social media and technology in small business. According to a new report from RingCentral, 34% of small business users surveyed said that they use their smartphone more than their computer to conduct business. That may sound crazy, but think about it — a high-end smartphone is about as powerful as a desktop or laptop computer that many of us had in our offices about six or seven years ago. Plus, a smartphone brings instant access to the Internet no matter where you are. However, thanks to the iPhone and the rise of app stores, it’s mobile applications that can really help turn a smartphone into a workstation on the go. Last month, I wrote about 14 terrific iPhone apps for small business users. However, with more than 185,000 apps in the iTunes App Store,

While the various news outlets of the web may have gotten readers a bit too ecstatic when hyping out the iPhone 5, truth is, there was no iPhone 5 come Apple’s annual press conference. One source says that next year’s iPhone, unofficially and presumably dubbed iPhone 5, will be a It seems that Apple decided to go ahead and give the go to iOS 5.0.1 earlier than we had initially thought. Releasing today, the update brings along multiple new minor features, the most significant, however, being the highly anticipated iPhone 4S battery patch. You’ll first dive into Junk Jack without a clue of what you’re supposed to be doing – running around, tapping on random blocks. Then when night falls, the monsters devour you, and by this time you’re frustrated. Even with the gorgeous pixel aesthetic, innovative controls that no other developer has I think that this product is truly great,

Type faster than laptop!

Version: 1.1
I use Writeroom iPhone Version with this and it's just dreamy. I am in Love with the combination, so it's up to other apps to use TextExpander's API, but for blog posts you can type quicker in writeroom+textexpander than you could with a full keyboard (with a good list of snippets)
Useless at this version.
Fever Pitch
Version: 1.0
On further review, after using text expander touch ver 1.0 for a few days, I find it to be completely useless For the same reasons I stated earlier.
Ergo. I must recommend the app, (TapIt4Me) as a fantastic Alternative.
TapIt4Me does exactly what I was looking to do with a text substitution app on the iPhone, consistently and correctly.
In fact, I'm writing this review with TapIt4Me.
Excellent.
I will judge you for this.
I had to rewrite my groups twice because this app kept Erasing them. I have since deleted textexpander from my iPhone and reinstalled it via iTunes.
So far so good. This app has potential.
Is there any way that this app can function with Apple's built-in text expansion in Leopard?
P.S. I've found another Bug that expands the first word or two and then stops expanding after. Also this app won't auto Capitalize the first word in a sentence.
Furthermore, how do you expand calendar dates?
Great App!

Version: 1.1
I bought this app knowing I'd get a lot more use out of it once more apps integrated the SDK sharing feature. While we all wish TE Touch was system wide like it is on the mac, we know Apple won't allow that. Smileonmymac was very creative in their approach and deserve credit for that alone.
Great apps but ...

Version: 1.0
Silly me ... I use this on my Mac and bought it right away thinking it will work the same way ie system wide. Of course it cannot so the interest is quite limited as you have to switch between apps doing copy/paste :(
Yet the apps is pretty well done. They should just sell it to Apple and have it part of iPhone OS to make it really practical.
Another great product from Smile!

Version: 1.0
I have loved TE for years now, one of my favorite apps on my Mac. I am happy to report that this has made the first page of apps on my phone. Synching snippets from my mac was super easy and transferring your snippets to the appropriate app is easier than you would think. Highly recommended!
Great text utility
Cartooning Dude
Version: 1.0
Big fan of the Mac version, nice to see it in the iPhone. Obviously the nature of the iPhone prevents one from using this in all apps, but hopefully other apps will take advantage of the SDK and include TE functionailty in their apps.
No sync, but adding groups from the Mac is easy enough, even if there is a bit of back and forth required to do so for multiple groups (and selecting OK each time on the Mac gets old quick).
Overall, pretty great for a 1.0 release, looking forward to seeing this one grow and seeing other apps take advantage of the SDK. If this could be used iPhone-wide it would be killer, but that's an Apple limitation I doubt we'll see changed anytime soon, if ever.
Finally. TextExpander for the iPhone!
ellenfan5
Version: 1.0.1
I have used TextExpander for years on my Mac, so I was pleased to see them finally release a version for my iPhone. I love that I can sync my snippets and use the same ones I've always used in both places. The fact that you have to copy/paste into the application you want is slightly cumbersome, but easy to get used to. Overall, a great app. Definitely worth the purchase.
Real time saver!
rustyBrower
Version: 1.0
If you type the same thing regularly this app will be a real time saver on the iPhone. Even something as long as several paragraphs can be retyped for you with just a few key strokes. Just send it to mail or copy and paste -- it's just that easy! I'm thinking of more and more things to add to my snippets everyday...oh the possibilities!
This rocks.
ShockMe
Version: 1.0
If you don't understand that Apple doesn't allow apps to run in the background, then (1) this app isn't for you and (2) the shortcoming lies with you and not the app.
That being said, this app is awesome and works as advertised. I had one issue syncing and the support response was far more detailed than I'd expected. This app rocks. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
So simple to use!
Lorene the Travel Agent
Version: 1.0
I love this app! It is so simple to use and "just works". What I love most is that it will take the groups from my desktop version of TextExpander and sync with the iPhone version. It just makes using my iPhone easier. It now lives on my first page of apps and I use it daily.
I love textexpander

I already have another textexpander but I bought this anyway. I think it's a great company and I want to support them. But I also love that it syncs with my mac. Good work guys. :)

Like others, I've been using TE for a long time. I'm impressed how the company continuously improves TE. I recognize the iPhone app does not do everything the mac version does. I expect they will improve the app over time also. So I'm buying this app because of my experience with the company:smile on my mac.

Version: 1.0
Given the limitations, it's a great effort, and useful. Love that they've made an SDK for other developers to implement; hopefully they will jump on.
Should run in the backgound...

Version: 1.0
Nice app but definitely should work in the background to achieve it's real potential! Also, landscape support would be greatly appreciated (for faster typing). Weird thing happened todat I toyed around yesterday with the app, included a few personal snippets, used them... But today they are all gone, just got the Sample Snippet group, any ideas? I really hope they add more functionality in future versions

Those of us who know the Smile on My Mac folks have been waiting for them to develop and release this app for the iPhone|iPod Touch. They haven't disappointed us (they never do)! My Mac version of this software is invaluable, and I'm certain that this app will become invaluable to my iPod Touch, as well. Great to see snippet sharing feature, too. Get this app during this introductory period - you won't be disappointed!

This is a great app, I use the original program on my Mac all the time. I'm so happy to see a version for my iPod Touch. It's easy to use, and I love that I can import my snippets from my Mac, and create new ones to use on my iPod for mail and filling out info in Safari. It saves me time, and is far more accurate than my typing on that little screen!
Wow. Just wow.

Version: 1.0
TextExpander touch is quite well-done. I've been able to pull in a couple of my key snippet groups from my desktop Mac and load them on my iPhone using my local wifi network. Now I have some of my key snippets -- like my sig's for email (one for personal messages and the other for business -- available in the TextExpander touch text pad, and ready to be pasted into messages when needed. Others, like my specially formatted current date and time snippets, are there, as well.

I've been waiting for this app for a year and very glad to see it has arrived. I would go without TextExpander on my laptop and now I don't have to on my phone.
Exactly What I Hoped For
Creativityist.com
Version: 1.0
I expected that TextExpander would never be able to work just like it does on the Mac, but this is a great implementation within the limits of the iPhone only running one app at a time. Most important...it syncs with snippets on your Mac, and plays the Bubble sound when your text expands.
TextExpander is a must-have app!

The group emailing feature alone is worth the price of the app. I also really enjoy having all my snippets on the go. This app rocks!

I've been using TE on the Mac for a while, and it is a must-have for me. The iPhone version is not quite as useful, since you have to switch between apps to use it, but it works as well as it can.
Awesome!

Version: 1.0
Once copy/paste was announced for the iPhone, I'd emailed Smile On My Mac, asking when they were going to do an app. Now I can use all the same shortcuts on my phone as I use on my Macbook. With 20,406 snippets expanded for over 343,000 characters, and 16.5 hours saved (not to mention an untold number of typos prevented), you could say I'm a huge fan of this one. Thanks, SOMM!
Must have app
thevesman
Version: 1.0
I've been using TE for some time on my mac. One of those "how'd I ever NOT use this before?" apps. Love that it came to the iPhone! All my snippets synced over and I'm much more efficient at repetetive tasks on my phone now too!
If they figure out how to make it work while typing I'll go nuts. Hopefully Apple and the developers can work to make it happen.
Great app! Works perfectly
iMPB
Version: 1.0
I've been a huge fan of TextExpander's app on the Mac and had marked down the date on the calender to get this app when it was released. It works exactly as advertised and syncs perfectly with the snippets on my Mac. It's also great because the iPhone does not currently support selecting an address book group to email to. With email distro snippits in TextExpander, it's really easy to do.
