Now I Know Where To Go – Thrillist For iPhone Is Here

By Chris Hall on July 23rd, 2010 Thrillist for the iPhone is your new hand-picked guide to what's great. The problem with the iPhone today is that is has become the hub of all decision making. Starting with Urbanspoon and with Yelp, and even OpenTable, we rely on apps to guide us to where we want to go. None of these apps have any sort of human touch though. Apps like Yelp and Urbanspoon just jumble up all the places in the area and then rank them based on user ratings. You might be looking for a really cool restaurant to kick back at after a long day, but nothing that these apps have will help you narrow down your options. There’s just no differentiation between The Cheesecake Factory and the coolest place in town, and there’s definitely something wrong with that. To fix this issue, Thrillist has made an app Read More

Thrillist is out with its “local lifestyle” iPhone app, which at start is sponsored by Bacardi’s new Torched Cherry flavored rum. If you’ve visited the Thrillist website, you can guess for yourself what their app is all about. If you haven’t, here’s a snippet from the press release, explaining the app instead of me: A supplement to Thrillist’s free daily email and website, Thrillist for iPhone narrows down the dizzying scope of your city with Thrillist’s handpicked eating, drinking and shopping recommendations. Users can search, sort and share articles from Thrillist’s extensive vault of local content, all organized by the nearest, newest and most popular places. In addition, the application also rocks Thrillist Video clips, ability to save and sync articles to “My Thrillist,” share tools for Facebook, Twitter and email, Foursquare check-in, and several mini-games, all in the “style and irreverent tone trusted by Thrillist’s 2 million plus readers.” In Read More

This app is a good compliment to other restaurant/city apps. It generally gives good suggestions on restaurants and bars and when I'm looking for something near me, but don't have anything specific in mind, it's the first app I check out. I've been happy with the information on the Thrillist app. The little blurbs are informative and tend to cut to the important info. I also like how the blurbs are dated, so you know the info isn't old.
